Loo
k at this picture right here.
I noticed each member of the family share something similar with each other.
I found that Dash and Bob share the same mouth and smile. Violet and Helen also share a mouth and smile as well.
Helen and Dash both have the same nose. Violet and Jack-Jack have the same nose.
Here is my question. Were
the Incredibles built from the same “Universal Man” and then just given other characteristics?
I believe each member
of the Parr family was modeled individually, but I could be wrong. I see the similarities you’re talking about,
though.
Dash and Bob share many facial characteristics, but Dash has a big forehead while Bob has a big
chin. Dash also appears to have somewhat of a receding hairline like his father. I wonder if he’s going to
lose his hair when he’s older. I hope not. He has killer hair.

I know we have talked
about this on the boards, but this question came to my mind. Assuming that Violet dyed her hair, what was her
natural hair color to begin with? Was it blond like Bob and Dash, or was it auburn like Helen?

I also noticed these similarities between the Parrs after I watched the film several times. Personally, I
believe that the Pixar team did this on purpose, so that you’ll see how detailed and precise they are when
dealing with complex characters like the Incredibles. It’s a very interesting aspect of the movie, that’s for
sure.
As for Violet’s hair, I believe that it was once auburn like Helen’s. Since Dash seems to carry
more of his father’s traits, and Violet seems to have obtained more of Helen’s, we can probably safely say that
her hair was brown at one time. Also, darker colors tend to rule out lighter ones…most of the time; hence,
Violet’s hair has probably always been a dark color like Helen’s. There had to be at least one member of the
family that didn’t get the goldilocks hair.
I’m sticking with my belief that
Violet’s hair is naturally black.
And this thought just popped into my head.
Maybe her unusual haircolor is one reason that Violet felt so out-of-place. All she wanted was to be normal,
but she couldn’t even be normal within her own family!

You have a point there too PV. I could be wrong. Maybe
Violet did have her hair black to begin with. And I love your theory about Violet’s hair and her not fitting in
with her family. I never thought of that.
Regarding the similarities
between the family members shown in the picture here, I’m actually quite pleased that Pixar made sure there were
similarities between them. This shows that they’re a real family, and in real life, children do tend to have
features of their parents.
I really can’t decide whether Violet’s black hair colour is natural or not.
I like your idea, PV, about Vi not being able to fit into her own family, but Vi’s shade of black is so dark,
that her skin colour would naturally have to be darker too. On the other hand, it just doesn’t go with me for Vi
to be dying her hair- it just doesn’t seem like something she would do, as it would mean that she would be
making herself stand out even more.
I also noticed every kid
received Bob’s blue eyes. So I wonder, is there anything that all the kids got from their mother but not from
Bob?
You know, I always wondered why Violet had
black hair. Maybe that came from one of the non-existent grandparents who arent in the movie?
Or possibly
even an uncle or auntie or something.

PixarVixen: Wow. I never really thought of that! Wonderful reasoning, PV.

The Star Swordsman: Perhaps the higher the “degree” of power
that a parent superhero has, the more it will show up in his or her children/offspring. For example: Bob’s
superpowers are significantly more “output” and stronger than Helen’s; hence, his children tend to
inheret smaller, less noticeable traits from him (all have blue eyes, etc.) than from Helen.
Just a
thought…
I see. However, there are some
features that Helen, Violet, Dash, and Jack-Jack share that Bob doesn’t. I think the children have similar ears
that was passed down from their mother.
Hmm…Well, what if a Super had children with just a
normal person? Would the chances of the child having super powers be 50/50, or would the Super’s genes be
dominant?
I’d have to say that powers are a recessive trait,
because otherwise as the generations went on, more and more people would be super. I once had a psychology
teacher tell me that eventually all of the genetic traits would come to a balance (for lack of a better word) and
everyone will be of medium skin tone, and have brown hair and eyes. It’s because of all the inter-marriages, and
the dominant traits (darker hair and eyes) are causing the recessive traits (lighter hair and eyes) to die
out.
I think that if a super married a non-super, and they had kids, powers would get passed down since
the powers are on a genetic level, and genes get passed down to the children, but the children’s powers
wouldn’t be as strong as their parents. So, in order for there to be a good number of supers in the world with
nice, strong powers, supers need to be marrying other supers. However, this is also what begins talk of social
Darwinism, and the creation of a “master race.”
KE- Strangely enough, there was an article about this in the
newspaper the other day. Apparently, yes, there will be a so-called master race, but that apparently humans will
be divided into two groups- upright walking, intelligent and attractive humans, all with brown hair and eyes, as
you said, and another group, containing humans that are short, unintelligent, and ugly. All the ‘bad’ genes
will be placed in them (but I can’t remember the details of this, so don’t ask me why.
)
Anyway,
going back on topic, you’re right- if the Super gene was dominant, then everyone would eventually be Super, so
it can’t be.
A Super Master race? Wasn’t that mentioned in Gamma
Jack’s profile about him believing a Super master race?
Anyways, back on topic. I don’t think this Super
gene is, like everyone says, the recessive gene. But If it is, how did all of the kids get powers? Geneticly
speaking, won’t there be at least two kids born normal? (Sorry, I forgot what I learned in Biology)
Veeery close, TSS.
It’s not that
believed in a master race. He believed that supers WERE the master race…“a superior race” as he
called it. My guess is that belief came with being popular with the ladies, which might’ve made him
narcissistic.

Hmm - I doubt that’show Hitler got that
way. With people like Gamma Jack in the Super world it’s very easy to see how people could get very scared of
the Supers.
This kinda reminds me of an X-men theme.
I also wonder. Universal man is used to build
the humans in Pixar. So I hypothisize each background character in the Incredibles will look the same with maybe
one or two different features.
