Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I figure this can end up being the catch-all for Prince Caspian discussion.

“Why exactly is she jumping the gun by 5 months?” you may ask. Well, go ahead, ask away.

On Wednesday, Yahoo! Movies provided a preview of the Prince Caspian trailer. However, it is available in much higher quality here.

For now (aka the next five months), please post anything directly regarding the trailer in spoiler tags, such as:

[spoil]The Pevensies were standing exactly where their thrones were![/spoil]

[spoil]“I am Prince Caspian.” – Squee![/spoil]

[spoil]“You may find Narnia a more savage place than you remember.” Eep![/spoil]

[spoil]Aslan: “All that you know, is about to change.” Yay![/spoil]

[spoil]I am so glad they kept Gigantic River god. He’d better start grumbling “Loose my chains!”[/spoil]

The preview is really tempting, especially since the books and the movie are so good. It kept me wanting more, the visuals are just so eye catching, the preview is great, and it feels like the same great feeling of the last movie is still there.

Oh dude, I am so super excited for this! I really, really want to see it. I was a fan of the first film, and now, after seeing the trailer for number two, I have returned to being so super fanatic about it again!

the trailer looks so great! it looks so much darker than the first one and i love how the same characters are back!

I am so excited for this! I saw the trailer when I went to see The Golden Compass. It looks awesome! I wasn’t too fond of the book version, or the one after it, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but this looks great. It’s very promising. I can’t wait to see it! I loved the chemistry between the kids in the first one and I have since been so eager to see the next in the series.

There is one change/slight deviation from the book (which I just finished reading again a few weeks ago) that was prominently featured in the trailer:

[spoil]Gryphons! I suppose after spending all that money to make models of gryphons for the first movie, they needed to get a little more use out of them. [/spoil]

[spoil]The most magnificent creatures ever created get some more screen time!![/spoil]

[spoil]I… uhh. I like gryphons. Anyway. [/spoil]

[spoil]Well, I hope one of them gets a speaking part.[/spoil]

Despite their high placement in the trailer, likely they will not get much screen time.

I’m really looking forward to this. I just hope that they do The Silver Chair as well. That is my favorite book of all. For now, I would love to see the epic battles in Prince Caspian.

[spoil]I heard that Eddie Izzard is the voice of Reepicheep and that the character was originally based on Puss in Boots from Shrek 2. I hope they don’t kill his character. :`-( [/spoil]

Goosegirl:

[spoiler]I can actually see how the two would be similar characters. Both are very small, and so normally wouldn’t be taken very seriously because of their size. Yet both have a huge heart… and a rather grandiose sense of themselves. Reep knows he is a Knight of Narnia and the Chief Mouse, and Puss sees himself as a gentleman and a ladies man… well, cat.

However, a review of Prince Caspian from Ain’t It Cool News includes a bit about the character of Reepicheep:

[quote]
Adamson said that he didn’t really find the character of Reepicheep until Izzard came in to record his dialogue. He had an idea, he said, but he came to find that he had subconsciously lifted a lot of his character for Puss N’ Boots when doing SHREK 2.

So, he couldn’t lock down a character that was different from Puss until he heard Izzard give his voice. Then things began clicking.[end of quote]

Pay attention to that last part. Adamson says that in the beginning Puss and Reep were very similar, but that’s changed now that Izzard has provided the voice. A clip I found on YouTube ([url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6p7yWiFYKE[/url] has Reep saying one line, but for me, it’s enough to know that they’ve done him right.[/spoiler]

Kyr: [spoil]I’m a massive fan of gryphons too. I’m sure their speaking roles will be bigger. Did you know that the gryph from the 1st movie was voiced by the same guy who did Farmer Maggot’s from FotR?[/spoil]

I am extremely excited for this movie. Every time I watch he trailer I get the “movie tingles”.

[spoil]I hope the gryphons speak! I love gryphons - got quite a few in my books.

I like Eddie Izzard but I dunno … it seems weird to hear Reepicheep with his voice. I’m too used to hearing/seeing Warwick Davis as Reep. Though the first versions were garbage, Reep I did like.

I’m excited for the badger though! xD Seems much more interesting to see the badger speak for some odd reason.

And I still can’t get over how odd Caspian looks, you know, being so old and all. :stuck_out_tongue:

Ooh! And did anyone see the White Witch in the trailer? I’m curious as to what that part’s all about! It’s not in the book but it’s something I’d like to see - the White Witch was deliciously evil. x)

Oh, and correct me if I’m wrong - wasn’t there a witch and a werewolf in this one? I get Caspian and Dawn Treader mixed up - forgive me. :stuck_out_tongue:

[/spoil]

I am loving all the new Prince Caspian features and articles that are popping up everywhere. I saw this new poster for Prince Caspian and it looks awesome. I really thing Ben Barnes is going to be an awesome Prince Caspian. This interactive character gallery is so cool. I love the picture of Reepicheep. Werewolf and Aslan look so fierce. I can’t wait!

I’m with Haunt on the “movie tingles”. Chill bumps are running up and down my arms when I watch the trailers - I don’t what kind of shape I’ll be in when I actually go see the movie.
I am SOOOO looking forward to Aslan. Liam Neeson (forgive me if I spelt that wrong) did an amazing job with his voice, and I am so happy he’s coming back!

Oh boy, i have just started the countdown to the movie. I can;t wait for it. I am really happy to see the kids (all grown up too) again.

I’m with you there - I’m just about to put a countdown on my MySpace. 30 days…we’re nearly past the one month line…

I think I have watched the trailer a total of ten times. This must mean that I might end up having a little craze of this movie after I see it.

Kyrie: Phew. That doesn’t sound too bad, then. I still can’t wait to hear more, however.

I really really hope that they at least have a line from Lucy wondering where Tumnus is! I mean, if you were to come upon a realm you’ve been to before, and have had a friend there, wouldn’t you wonder where he/she was? The BBC Lucy didn’t. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, I hope so too. I never thought of that, but now that’s what I’m thinking, too. :bulb:

Well, their castle is in ruins, and I guess it’s safe to assume that they realized that a good long time has passed since the last time they were in Narnia… Lucy probably figures that Tumnus is long gone.

It is a shame that Tumnus won’t be in anything until his cameo (of sorts) in Last Battle… James McAvoy makes a very good-looking faun.

But no tears! Nothing! =P

Oh, I know! <3 It’s a real shame. I saw a photo of a faun in this new movie - it looks more like it’s part satyr or something - pretty ugly-looking IMO, too much prosthetics. :stuck_out_tongue:
