What do you think of the upcoming Voyage of the Dawn Treader?
I think it’s gonna kick some Aslan!
Meh, looks okay. I did like that cute rat, though! WHO SAID THAT?
It should be retitled ‘The Chronic Fatigue: Snorage of the Yawn Treader’.

So the brand-spanking-new teaser for the next chapter in the Narnia saga has just been released; I know there’s more than a few fans of C.S. Lewis’ epic series here, so I’m just wondering how y’all reacted to the trailer.
For me, I’m a so-so fan of the film adaptations. But I’m kinda getting tired of all the CGI whiz-bang gadgetry, though the visuals are still pretty spectacular. I don’t know, the Dawn Treader doesn’t have quite that authentic tactile feeling as, say, the Black Pearl or The Flying Dutchman ships from the POTC trilogy, and the scenery is also less ‘realistic’ and natural than the vistas we’ve seen in other seafaring movies. Maybe because this is an alternate world, but I always found the computer graphics in the Narnia movies second-rate, more Golden Compass than Lord of the Rings.
Not to mention that the trailer takes itself too seriously and descends too much into hyperbole (There needs to be more pacing, like something light-hearted, then a music break, instead of pushing on into an ascending dramatic climax). And the annoying Digital 3D plug at the end.
I don’t know… I’ll borrow the book and have a read before seeing the movie, just to be sure. Maybe they’ll release a more exciting trailer down the road. I do love the return of Reepicheep, though! That rapier-wielding rodent rascal.
What do you think? A grand voyage, or a one-way trip to boredom?
I think this looks pretty good, but first I need to read the book. And my mom and brother are Narnia fans, (I’m starting to become one too.) and I will most likely be seeing it since it comes out on my mom’s birthday.
Although I haven’t seen the first two films since 2007 or so, I remember liking the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe a lot, and I was disapointed a t Prince Caspian, but didn’t think it was bad.
As for the Dawn Treader, I think this looks like an okay movie that is worth buying on DVD, and I might see this in theaters.
Oh, and by the way: This film is Distributed by 20th Century Fox, not Disney, so it should be moved.
Third movie? I didn´t know they did a second movie! shoot
I watched the trailer on the film and the first thing i thought it was “wait, did Narnia just became a Pirates of the Caribbean movie?”.
The trailer was a bit dissapointed but we´ll see how the movie will be.
I read all the books. The Voyage being the first. But the trailer looked pretty worked up and all surreal. Either that means the movie is good or it is absolutely terrible. No worry about the story whatsoever, the book has got that covered.
But my main concern regarding Narnia is how they will portray Susan in the Last Battle. She’s not in the Voyage if I’m correct.
I’m not a huge Narnia fan. I liked The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, but I couldn’t even get through most of the others in the series. I barely remember them. I haven’t read Dawn Treader, it’s the only one in the series I don’t own. I saw the first movie, didn’t think it was that great. I didn’t bother with the second, but I own it, so I guess I’ll give it a chance. In fact, I should probably try reading the entire series over again, because I read them so long ago. Anyway, will I be seeing this? Eventually, but definitely not in theatres.
I liked reading this series in school quite a bit. The first movie, based on The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was really good, and Prince Caspian was okay (not enough childlike fantasy, IMO). I have high hopes for this
