I was
watching “James and the Giant Peach” the other day, which is scored by Randy Newman, and I heard the
Bug Circus theme from “A Bug’s Life.” You can just barely hear it when Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker
are staring up at the peach, after it has just appeared.
Wow, I didn’t realise Randy Newman scored JATJP! Doesn’t surprise me, though-
the music on it is very good. I’ll have to watch that scene again and turn the volume up and see if I can catch
that circus theme.
The one thing I got from the book was this: It’s VERY BAD luck to kill a spider.
Never killed one after reading that book . . . always took them outside in jar and paper if I found them inside
the house . . .

Oh yeah, never
noticed that, maybe another idea pinched.
Yeah… Composers tend to develop a certain style. If you watch enough movies
that were scored by the same composer, you start to pick up on that style. And no matter how original a composer
is, sometimes certain melodies are repeated in different movies. In the first Harry Potter movie, you can hear
the Star Wars theme just briefly. (both were scored by John Williams)
In this case, I thought it was funny
that Randay Newman used the same “theme” for two different bug movies.
