Combat Carl/Roller Bob/Jingle Joe - G.I.Joe or Stony Smith?

I know the Combat Carl figures are supposed to be TS’s version of G.I.Joe, but I remember the 1960s Marx figures- Stony Smith, Best of the West line, Marx Knights, Mike Hazard double agent, etc. These were all hard plastic 12" figures that had molded on clothes (like Combat Carl) and visible joints.

Any thoughts? -Omar

There’s always the possibility, since John Lasseter might remember it. I always thought that Combat Carl was based off the vintage orange-haired G.I. Joe.

I don’t think Roller Bob is actually a Combat Carl, because he has a molded on uniform and visible joints. However, he is based off the 4" G.I. Joe line Action Pilot (there’s one thats 12", but there’s fabric clothing on it). Plus, the Combat Carl Sid blew up had on fabric clothing. It’s also interesting that Rockmobile is listed as being made of a Combat Carl torso (the smaller one). I guess they had a small and large line of Combat Carls as well.
