Coraline

I just got back from seeing it too. I saw it in 3-D and it was awesome! I liked it even better than Nightmare Before Christmas. Henry Selick got everything right. It was just scary for some little kids considering how many parents were leaving the theatre with their kids. Someone was actually screaming after the 9 trailer saying how scary it was for her kids. They seemed to be laughing .

I saw Coraline yesterday in 3-D. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I would give it 3 and 3 quarters stars! :stuck_out_tongue: {Out of four.} I hope it gets a oscar nomination for best animated feature! {Just a nomination though. } And possibly best score, and Production design. I did’nt have very high hopes for this because I did’nt really like The Nightmare before Chirstmas. {Same director as Coraline.} After all it masterpiece!

Ive been hearing nothing but good news about this movie. Im leaning more towards it than i was when i first saw trailers for it. Ill still wait till it gets released on DVD, but ill def. have to check it out.

I really want to see Coraline. EW gave it an A+, which is something they rarely do with animated films. I just don’t think I’ll have the money to see it in theaters though, I’ll have to wait for the DVD.

Wish granted!

Last weekend for seeing it in 3D. It gets kicked out by the Jonas Brothers 3D movie next week.
Going to see it in 3D tomorrow.

Some parts did differ from the book, mainly because of Wybie. But I really like how they added that character…I felt sorry for [spoil]the Other Wybie making himself disappear forever so the Other Mother can’t punish him for helping Coraline escape.[/spoil] The changes weren’t too much, and they were necessary changes, like adding an extra ingredient to a signature famous recipe.

Puh-ha!! That’s great.

Just saw it at a 9:40 P.M. showing (It’s the last weekend I could see it before it gets replaced by the Jonas Brothers 3D concert crud), and I have to say, I really enjoyed the artfulness of the film and everything about it. I’d give it an A- . I loved the subtlety in the 3D. I liked the 3D Up trailer a lot, too. I’m not so frightened of it anymore.

Did anyone else catch this? There’s a huuuuuuge Joe Ranft reference near the beginning of the film. [spoil]As the moving vans go away from the apartments, you see that one of the mover puppets looks and is designed exactly like Joe Ranft. Then, on the truck, you see ‘Ranft Bros. Moving.’ [/spoil]They did this because Joe Ranft did a lot of story work on The Nightmare Before Christmas, Henry Selick’s first stop-motion feature and the world’s first full-length one.

My critic’s sentence; “An artful, witty and chilling fairy tale told through gorgeous imagery and dazzling animation. Brilliant!” (Henry Selick ROCKS!)

Sorry, but did you mean Coraline, or the UP trailer?

Anyway, on another note, I have yet to see this movie, but hopefully will soon, since it sounds like it’s really good. (And @ thedriveintheatre: I really like all of the ‘critic lines’. Great idea!)

I mean I’m not so frightemed of the fact that all these studios are switching to 3D anymore. I thought it would be the ‘throwing’ kind of 3D, but it’s more of a you’re-in-the-action ‘window’ kind. I’m excited to see the first two Toy Story films in 3D!!!

Coraline is now #185 on IMDB’s Top 250 films list!

That’s not bad! :open_mouth:

^ It’ll probably go down after a few months, but yes, that’s good.

I found the movie to be surprisingly good. An instant classic even. =)

Coraline fever’s spinning through my mind…AHHH! I got fanmade video plans for this already, and I still haven’t gotten through with my other, older plans! deep breath All right…gotta pace myself…

I am pretty much obsessed w/ this movie.

I saw this movie for the first time two days ago. I loved it. It creeped me out but I found it very enjoyable. This is probably my favorite Tim Burton movie now.

LOL, I hate to burst your bubble, but Tim Burton had nothing to do with this film. Henry Selick directed it, whom also directed The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Really? Hmmm, well, my cousin told me that it was a Tim Burton film. Man, do I feel stupid. Excuse me, I need to sit in the corner now.

TSS: Ah, don’t worry about it. Common mistake, really. I used to think so, too. When someone mentioned the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland film (that was before I knew they were going to make an Alice in Wonderland), I replied, “Don’t you mean Coraline?” then someone explained to me that Coraline wasn’t directed by Tim Burton at all and that they were discussing a whole different film. So, you’re not alone on making that misconception.
