little_chef: I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on HTTYD! You’re gonna lurve it!
Oh, and my condolences to the poor soul you found. May she rest in peace.
JustSoWall-eCrazy: Woohoo! I have a two-week break, too! Though, I have to return to school on some days for replacement lectures (because of another upcoming public holiday, Anzac Day), and for group meetings for projects. Ugh! Why do they have assignments on breaks? Even in uni!
mo: I read your review. I think Toothless has to be my favourite Dreamworks character. He may not be as saccharine-cute as the obvious ones like Gingie, Puss, or that little prawn from Shark Tale, but boy does he have personality!
Oh, and I never liked Maths. Trigo’s a pain in the neck, I can tell ya.
Burnout FTW!!!

Current Mood: Exhausted
Right, so I got a free pass to this dance party yesterday night organized by my Malaysian Society, and it went down at one of the hippest spots in town. The thing is, I’m not a fan of clubbing to begin with (I’m a teetotaller, and an awful dancer), but I was obligated to go, since I volunteered to help out (to make amends after missing out on earlier events). I got assigned cloakroom duty, and it was simple enough - ask patron to write name and number on half a ticket, give her the other half, attach the half with the details on the item, collect money, return item when patron requests.
It’s just that I don’t ‘get’ the club culture, it just smacks of excessive hedonism and self-indulgence.
For the younger folks who’ve wondered how the inside of a discotheque looks like, just imagine a dark room filled with disorienting strobe lights, smartly-dressed people acting anything but, and ear-piercing, mind-numbing techno music. Oh, and lots of scary-looking bouncers who won’t hesitate to kick you out if you so much as look at them funny (I was even manhandled by one who looked like Stone Cold Steve Austin when I mistakenly went out through the wrong exit). If that’s your idea of ‘socialising’, by all means you’re entitled to your opinion. But for me, I’d rather hang out with friends at barbeques, shopping malls, or at the movies.
All in all, it was an okay night. Apart from a washed-out girl who conveniently forgot her ticket and a cocky event photographer trying to pick up my duty partner, I think my shift went well. As soon as it ended (in the wee hours of the morning), I was outta there, baby!
So if there’s any young 'uns looking forward to your first clubbing outing, I can tell you from experience (this being my third session already), it’s not all it cracked up to be. My idea of a good night is crashing at someone’s place, with a good movie (Pixar, of course) and the company of friends. At least you won’t get thrown onto the streets by a WWE wrestler.
