Ever since I saw Toy Story 3 I wondered if bonnie knew [spoil]that the woody she found was the same woody Andy gave her she acted like it was the same one when Andy gave it to her[/spoil] So what do you guys think?
Yeah, I’ve always wondered about that too Snake&Robot. I sort of imagined, however, that this would be something that she’d only really start to question when she got older [spoil]“Wait, the Woody I had plated with several days ago somehow disappeared and then mysteriously reappaeared the exact box that this teenage boy was giving me?”[/spoil], where she would then pass it off as just bad memory. As a little kid, I think she’s just glad to be given a gift.[/spoil]
Wow, honestly I didn’t think about it. I just sort of assumed she did know because of her age, I don’t think someone that young would be quick to think oh hey [spoil]this is just like the toy I found[/spoil], and realize toys are mass produced and all that jazz and there could be many of the same one. So I feel like [spoil]when she saw Woody in the box she already felt like it was hers.[/spoil]
She probably noticed that her Woody doll was gone the morning she woke up. I mean, when you’re little and you get a new toy a kid usually is all excited about it. So it fits with when she said [spoil]“My Cowboy” when she found Woody in Andy’s box[/spoil]
I think [spoil]since Woody was doubtless the only Woody doll she had ever seen, she would naturally assume he was the same one. And the “My cowboy!” line certainly sounds like she thought he was the same one. Agreed, though, that she wouldn’t have been able to think through the whole coincidence until she was a bit older.[/spoil]
That makes me wonder about another, similar question, though: [spoil]Did Daisy know that her “replacement” Lotso wasn’t her original Lotso? I would think she had to know, because she would have known that hers wasn’t the only Lotso. Did she still wonder what happened to the one she lost?[/spoil]
That’s a good thought too. Maybe [spoil]she knew it was a replacement, because if her parents brought her original one, then she would ask about Chuckles and Big Baby. However, she obviously didn’t care either way, just as long as she had a strawberry scented bear to cuddle with at night. [/spoil]
Are the [spoil]spoiler [/spoil] tags still necessary? Surely, mostly everyone’s seen the film already.[/spoil]
Sorry, just a precaution. Is it really that hard to highlight the spoiler?
Hard, no. annoying, yes. Now that the film has been released worldwide and is about to hit blu ray and dvd I think its time to phase out the spoiler tags on this forum. unless it relates to toy story toons or something.
I’d still use spoiler tags as a moreover precautionary measure. From what lizardgirl told me, even though the film has been released from theaters it’s kind of in that point where it’s not really playing anymore but not really hit the shelves for DVD/ Blu Ray Purchasing yet. So it is technically possible that some people haven’t seen the film yet.
The moment that the Blu Ray goes on sale, we can stop using the those $#*@ing things.
I would assume that she thought that he was indeed the same one. When you’re a kid you would probably just assume that it is yours even if someone has the same toy.
I agree. Little kids usually don’t know much outside of their own life (does that make sense? I’m not sure how to phrase it exactly). So I don’t think she knew [spoil]that there are lots of copies of the same toy, so she probably did just think it was the same one.[/spoil]
Thats an interesting point you bring up here. I think that [spoil]Daisy probably was so glad to have a strawberry-scented bear back that she didn’t care if it was the old Lotso. It probably was all the same to her. And even if earlier, just possibly, she could’ve complained that it’s not the same Lotso, her parents would tell her it’s still the same thing (most parents would, right?) and eventually she’d be convinced. [/spoil]
Another take on the Daisy/Lotso equation is that her parents might’ve told her its not the same Lotso, but “couldn’t you love this one just as much?” which is what I heard a mother tell her daughter at the Disney Store years ago, when she wanted a Winnie the Pooh toy and the mother wanted her to buy the vintage styled toy versus the latter Disney style version. Anyway its all speculation. -Omar
Omar, I like your take on Daisy/Lotso - I could easily see that happening!
She diden’t really think about it. She’s 3 or 4 years old and is only thinking about playing with them. She may think about it when she’s older if she remembers it.
I think any little kid would assume it was the same. They don’t comprehend mass-production.
Besides, she did say, [spoil]“My cowboy!”[/spoil]
And no, I don’t care if the spoiler tags annoy you. Grow up.
