I hear there’s going to be a second one. Out of all the Dream Works animated film I’d say this one is the one I liked a lot. I hope the second one doesn’t disapoint. Any one else like the film?
Me! Me! waves hand around like a moron
I really enjoyed this film! It’s such a bummer it got so much bad rap with the Pixar fans because of the Annies madness last year. It’s my favorite Dreamworks film since their shift to CG.
I liked Kung Fu Panda a lot. It was really funny and it had a great story.
I’m actually sort of hoping that Dreamworks doesn’t make a sequel, though - I don’t want them to kill this movie like they’re killing Shrek.
Amen to that! It is by far the best Dreamworks feature, but I fear a sequel will do more harm than good (but of course it will bring Dreamworks truckloads of money, nonetheless).
Usually Dreamworks tends to stuff pop-culture references into scenarios where they just don’t belong in order to get cheap laughs, but in Kung Fu Panda this was really toned down a lot.
The only thing of that sort were really the action figures, but I think that still worked fine in context of Po’s total obsession with his Kung Fu heroes.
But what put the biggest smile on my face every time is this line: “…but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called present.”.
Moments like that one are sorely missing from all the other Dreamworks features so far.
I like Kung Fu Panda perhaps more than I expected, but I did feel that the movie was held up by the awesomness of Kung Fu, the story was nothing particularly unique but it had some very pretty and thematic sequences and pretty excellent choreography.
It was alright I guess. I liked the red panda character. I cant say it was anything I needed or wanted to see repeatedly. But I did like it better than the Shrek movies I’ve seen.
There’s already a thread discussing Kung Fu Panda here- Kung Fu Panda actually good!?!
So I’ll lock this one up now.
