So Beauty and the Beast and Alice in Wonderland recently came out on Blu-Ray (the old Alice in Wonderland I’m talking about). I still haven’'t got them yet but I can’t wait to do so, but as I understand Disney intends to release all its classic films on Blu-Ray in the next few years, such as Bambi, which is coming soon, and I can’t wait for either. But I believe they are also planning to re-release Cinderella, The Lion King, Pocahontas, The Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty, Mulan and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. All very good films? Any others you think they are missing out? I personally think they should release all of Wolfgang Reitherman’s films on Disney Blu-Ray. In particular Robin Hood and the Sword in the Stone. However, also, I think they should re-release The Fox in the Hound.
In addition, I also think they should release the whole Disney Renaissance era on Blu-Ray just because it would be nice
I remember reading on Ultimate Disney that there were no plans for Aladdin to be on Blu-Ray because the Platinum Edition DVD release didn’t sell too well. Really now? It seemed like a popular release to me when I bought it back in 2004. It was actually one of my most anticipated Disney DVD releases when I first heard about it.
I want Brother Bear for Blu-Ray, and am most interested in that one.
It’s not as good as Pocahontas, Lion King, Little Mermaid, and all of those. Heck, I like those films better! Why I care about Brother Bear is that I know those other classic ones will get a Blu Ray, and sometime soon. So I’m more curious about the other non-Renaisance and Walt Disney era films and when they’ll get their Blu Ray.
I’m pretty sure the only ones they announced so far are Bambi, the Lion King, and the Lady and the Tramp. although, they have stated that they expect to re-release all the films on the platinum edition through the new Diamond edition. EXCEPT, Aladdin. This seems kinda weird to me. I thought that it was one of their most popular films? I do agree with EJE also- I’m more anxious to hear about Disney releasing not as popular films like Pocahontas and the Hunchback of Notre Dame that didn’t get platinum treatment the first time around…
