Disney to distribute DreamWorks' films

As we all know DreamWorks doesn’t distribute their films by themselves. Currently it is done by Paramount but their contract will end with this year.

DreamWorks made an agreement with Universal last year but it seems that Universal is dropping it due high demands by DreamWorks. And Disney is the one who will be the next distributor for DreamWorks SKG and DreamWorks Animation SKG

It was announced today that Disney and DreamWorks have formally entered into an agreement that would have Disney releasing six DreamWorks films a year (this excludes the DreamWorks animated films) starting in 2010. The films will be released under Disney’s Touchstone Pictures banner, which has seen it’s release slate drop drastically over the years as the studio has looked to focus on more family friendly fare.

All I have to say is that this bad news. What does DreamWorks have to do with Disney anyway?! They’re the enemy. :smiling_imp: I just hope Disney drowns them out with sequels (not like they don’t already).

No one’s an enemy… They may be competitors in the movie industry, but that does not mean they’re enemies.
Disney distributing Dreamworks SKG films does not mean they will take complete control of them. Just like Pixar, Disney lets them do their own things and then Pixar delivers.

I would also like to state, this deal does NOT include Dreamworks Animation. Dreamworks Animation is a different branch from Dreamworks SKG now, and is not included in this deal (That means no Shrek, no Kung Fu Panda, and no Madagascar for Disney).

Er…

 :exclamation:

I dunno what to say… O_o
no comment… :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

That’s weird because a few months ago, me and a freind were debating whether or not DreamWorks worked with Disney. I guess we were both right in the future. :stuck_out_tongue:

I feel the same. :open_mouth: Meep.

Yep, it links to DreamWorks and not Dreamworks Animation. Which is fine, because it’s the animation department that’s obsessive about sequels and money, but the normal DreamWorks company has funded and created many other fine films.

Oh! I feel better about it now…didn’t DreamWorks do Hotel for Dogs?
