Like in say cartoons like Regular Show their “drawings” weren’t always excellent. It may lead to critiscm but do cartoons and other animation always have to be detailed and quality?
If it’s more dramatic/serious, then I think detail is important. But I hate when people judge CGI in animated films on how “real” it looks rather than the style/visual appeal.
^I agree with you there, Bryko. Animation and art in general may be a way to create a heightened reality, but it can also be a way to express ideas in a simplified manner. I really appreciate movies that have a simple style and express the intended message without all the complexity that is found in many films today.
No, not at all. Sometimes, simplicity is better. It all depends on the style and mood of the film/short, as well as the filmaker’s preference.
