In Toy Story, the Pizza Planet delivery man tells the Dinoco worker “Thanks for the directions.” I’m probably wrong, but does this mean that he didn’t know how to get back to Pizza Planet?
I assumed he was asking how to drive to a delivery address.
Yeah, the guy was making his last rounds before he returned to Pizza Planet. Of course, I thought the same thing you did as a kid, since the sequence the scenes were in was confusing at first.
This is a rather interesting point cause you actually don’t see him making any last deliveries before going to Pizza Planet since we’re in the back with Woody and the tool chest the whole time, so you kind of assume that he was on his way back to the restaurant cause that’s the next thing you see. But then of course he says he’s in a hurry because the pizzas are getting cold, which could only mean that he’s delivering them to someone’s house. Wouldn’t make much sense to be bringing the pizzas to the restaurant when food is already being provided for there.
I’m guessing Woody would have been unconscious for a much longer time if the driver had to make a couple stops.
You know, I was watching this on ABC Family last night, and I don’t know if it ever occurred to me before (and I’ve seen TS a BUNCH of times), but yeah… The PP driver asks the Gas Station Dude for directions, and is in a hurry because “the pizzas are getting cold.” He has to be delivering the pizzas to a customer. But then the next stop we see the truck make is Pizza Planet - so, yeah, we get the blackout when Woody gets clobbered, so we have to assume the truck made a delivery we didn’t see. Presumably, at the delivery stop, Buzz looked out and figured, “that’s not a spaceport/Star Command,” so stayed in the truck.
What kind of testament is this to Pixar that 15 years after the film came out, we’re still hashing out these little details?
That’s called ellipsis. You can’t show everything on a movie, so you omit a portion of the events. Besides, Woody says that the driver will be back to Pizza Planet after he delivers the cargo. So, yes, he’s asking the delivery direction.
Delivery Directions, I hope. This brings in the question of how big the town is that Andy lives in, apperently big enough for a Pizza Delivery guy to get lost in. I mean, it’s his job to drive around the city.
He sounded-- um, high, stoned or something-- maybe that’s why he got lost. One of those stereotypical clueless (Bill and Ted - type) teenagers (my apologies to the teens here)
There’s a quote on imdb. I’d written a post earlier, guess I didn’t pus spoiler tags or something because it got deleted -Omar
