Does Brad Bird use Simpsons references?

In every animated film

that Brad Bird has done, there has been 1 character with the name of a Simpsons

character.

The Iron Giant: Kent Mansley

(Kent Brockman)
The Incredibles:

Edna Mode (Edna

Krabappel)
Ratatouille: Skinner (Principal Seymour

Skinner)

Brad was an executive consultant for The

Simpsons, so these could be possible nods to the show.

Call me crazy.

Hey! I think your right PV! ha ha that’s funny.

I’m a big Simpsons nerd, but I’m sad to say that I haven’t figured that out until you told me!!! That could

be a possible nod to the show. Krusty is his favorite Simpsons character, so we might see a character named

Krusty in an upcoming film of his.

Puh-ha! That’s funny – and you’re probably right about

that. It certainly seems as if he has taken character names from that one popular show he worked on in his early

years. Typical animator. (snigger)

I am not sure about the Edna part. I mean, I believed that it came from the designer,

Edith Head. I guess he wanted a similar name to that. And Edna Mode happened to be it.

Wow, that’s pretty cool if it’s true! It’s hard to

tell whether or not it’s a coincidence, though…

Interesting! I never made that

connection. You could very well be right about that. I wonder what a Pixar character named Smithers or Wiggum

would be like

Lennonluvr9 - Either really odd and strange or absolutely

hillarious!
