Hello everyone it’s gleefan1 here!
The other day, I was watching a Beyond The Trailer video, and Grace Randolph said that Pixar only had one franchise (Toy Story) and Dreamworks had two (Shrek & Madagascar).
What do you guys think?, is she right?, Pixar only has one franchise?
I think we have more two franchise, Cars and Monsters Inc. That’s my thoughts.
What are yours?
Cars is definitely a franchise. Has she SEEN the amount of merchandise that movie gets!?
Once the sequels come out, people will start acknowledging them. Until then, people will be ignorant. But I agree, Cars and Monsters, Inc. are certainly franchises.
If they are franchise, Cars That I have seen that while are removed long ago, still selling a lot, I think that is the Pixar film with more marketing and then my favorite Monsters inc although there are almost no products Toy Story too , Dreamworks what happens is that a movie’s done well and are quick to make sequels if Pixar take out for each successful sequels (All Movies) So do not say that.
I’d say Toy Story is the main one due to the fact that it’s the only one of Pixar’s films to have been extended into a trilogy, but considering how much Cars merchandise there is around, I’d say Cars is also a franchise. I don’t consider Monsters, Inc. to be a franchise just yet, but come the release of the sequel it’d be difficult to deny that it is.
To my feeling, Disney is still trying to target Boys, Disney bought Marvel, so that helps, and also extending Cars to help, maybe thats why Pixar made Cars 2!
I would think that any film with the most sequels, games, and merchandise would be considered a franchise. Toy Story is the biggest one, and for obvious reasons:
It’s Pixar’s first film.
It’s had two great sequels.
It’s had a spin-off series Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.
It sells a lot of toys by the fact that the story is about toys, not ignoring of course that Pixar’s real goal with the films was to tell good stories and not with the intention of being purposefully toyetic the way a franchise like Power Rangers or Pokemon is, but having toys of the characters has been a wonderful by-product of the films without making them feel toyetic at all.
Cars is pretty much the 2nd biggest Pixar franchise with the Cars Toons shorts, World of Cars Online on Disney’s website, and Cars 2 coming out. Finding Nemo only had one film, but it seems to be a runner-up to me.
