Has anyone else seen this very fine CGI animated film? It’s French, but is also available with a very nice English dub.
Beautifully animated (it even outclasses Pixar in many ways) and a good story with some memorable characters. Not perfect, but far better and more imaginative than anything that Dreamworks have produced (and dare I say better even than some of Pixar’s output … ).

Saw it, enjoyed it, agree it’s quite beautiful and imaginative, especially the “rules of the world” with gravity all nonsense now. Lian-Chu is terrific! The Jimbob dragons were cool, too.
Given the timing, it’s entirely possible that the How to Train Your Dragon folks took notes on some of the dragon designs of Dragon Hunters. Toothless resembles the little Silly Dragons, at least in the face.

It would be great to learn which animation studios actually worked on which parts of Dragon Hunters. Futurikon was the production company; the animation was farmed out to Trixter in Germany, LuxAnimation in Luxembourg, and Mac Guff Ligne (who animated Despicable Me) in France.
I’ve seen this movie, and some of the TV show on Starz. I liked it and the animation is awesome. However, I didn’t connect with the characters or story. So, I’d say it’s a C for me.
Haha, Dragon Hunters, reminds me of Dragon Slayer from Survivor.
