Dreams

That wish granting game that’s been going on

recently gave me the inspiration for this new topic- what are your dreams in life? If there were one thing you

could do right now, something that you’ve wanted to do so much, what would it be? I understand that a lot of

people here wish to work for Pixar, but what kind of aspirations do you have outside of that? What things do you

want to experience, where do you want to be in 20 years time?

What do you want to do with your

lives?

I wanna be working for Pixar!!! Honestly, that is a

dream of mine.
I’d also like to be ina band…A sucessful one, anyways.
For both of these I need to

greatly improve my musical skills and my art skills… :stuck_out_tongue:

Being in a band would be really cool. The idea of having your own gig, and when you start

playing, people are actually singing the lyrics back at you because they know your songs off by heart…It must

be amazing.

I KNOW!!! I get chills just thinking about it.

hehe
I don’t wanna do it for fame or money, however, because i know that neither of those two things make you

happy.

Well, my top priority now is to

animate for Pixar.

But aside from that, I’ve many other paths in mind:

I wanna be an

accomplished musican, taking my skills on piano, drums, and trumpet to a new level. I also want a mini

Djing/Producing career.

I wanna take my artistic skillz and use them to make a new line of

cutstomized airbrushed clothing, (that includes accessories and sneakers.)

Lastly, I also wanna

be an accomplished BBaller, being one of the few females that can dunk. I’ll probably stop at college ball

'cause I can make more money doing something else other than the WNBA.

There’s prolly many

other things I didn’t mention, but those are the biggest things on my list.

I’d like to have a house up in the mountains and a nice sports car.

Nice idea,

lizardgirl!

Well, the first statement is pretty obvious. The second,

however, is rather…embarassing. Eheh…

My Main Goal - My primary

goal/dream is to be either a character designer or a computer animator for Pixar Animation

Studios. Since the release of Toy Story I have been absolutely

entranced with the “miracles” that enter into and out of the said corporation. Animation in general is

an occupational field that has existed within my family for the past two generations, and so my lifestyle has

partly centered around understanding the art form since I was a young child. Having been heavily influenced by my

artistic parents (and various, traditionally animated films) throughout the years, it finally occurred to me that

I should just get on with it and do my utmost to pursue a career in animation once I finish college.

And

so here I am now, ready and willing to fulfill my dreams this year. It’s going to be a long road, but I’ll have

fun reaching the climax of it.

The “Impossible” Dream - Now here is

where it gets embarassing, as I previously fore-warned you all…

As long as I can remember, I have

wanted to meet at least one cartoon character…in the flesh. Remy is, obviously, my

preferred choice of the numerous creations I adore and would love to spend just even a couple minutes with. Kaa,

from Disney’s The Jungle Book, is the second option, but there are many others whom

I would gladly spend a few moments with.

It is a ludicrous, albeit a rather heart-felt, wish of mine, but

the very idea of it has been swimming in my mind for the past…eleven years (give or take). Embarassing, I know.

However, you can’t really blame me. Who wouldn’t want to meet their favorite cartoon character for a day, even

if the time limit you had to spend with the character in question was just a very barred duration of two seconds?

Yes, it is, indeed, quite embarassing. But…I shall never stop wishing…

Hey, that’s kinda cool! I hope you’re successful in that field so

that I can wear some of those wackily awesome sneakers.

Here’s mine…it stinks

though…

I want to be the next J.K. Rowling, writing books that kids become obssesed over and become a

phenomenon across the globe. I also want a really sweet computer, much like the one I’m using now (I’m at my

aunt and uncle’s).

And of course, I want to be a voice actress for Pixar. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well,

I haven’t ever really known what I wanted to with my life. It’s been 3 years since I finished

high school, and right now I’m just doing one of those in-between jobs until I figure out what I’ve wanted to

do.

Plus on of that I am struggling with an anxiety disorder and have been for over five years… This

takes away a lot of my energy and clouds my thinking process.

But I, very recently, found out that I have

a skill in making movies… I think. I write, plan, make props, scope locations, direct, film, edit, then present

each one. It is very time consuming but at the end of the day, when it’s finished I still love doing it. I like

to make people laugh, and feel emotion out of something that I created. I guess this is how John Lasseter feels?

(Not that I am saying I’m the next John Lasseter, nosirrebob)

Mind you, I only do it on an amateur level,

making movies with my family as actors, but I put a lot of effort into it, and I’m lucky enough that most of the

actors take direction pretty well, and get as much out of the process as I do.

I’m not very sure what

part of the movie-making process I like, though. I don’t mind directing but it is a

little bit stressful, and you have to be extremely organised. I don’t know how to figure this out.

I know

this may seem silly, but it really was Pixar that made me realise the importance on story, no matter what medium

you are dealing with. Pixar has also taught me to value every step of the movie making process.

Anyway, I

guess I’m pretty happy that I have found a passion in life, as I haven’t had one before. So yeah, that’s it.

Anyway, I’m working on getting my movies so far online, so everyone here can see them.

Also, I want to

learn to play keyboard and become fluent at it before I am 30. I love music so much, and always have so that

would be a way to express

it.

Mitch
- I don’t think

your impossible dream is silly at all. And at least you had the courage to say it. I would love to meet Linguini,

he just seems so real. I’d probably hug him and tell him not to be so hard on

himself. So you’re not alone there.

Why does Pixar have to make their characters/movies so believable???

It makes me sad sometimes that it’s “just a movie”, but at least we had the pleasure of watching it

and being in that world even just for an hour or so…

(I hope someone from Pixar reads this so they know

how much of an impact their films are) <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

Love" />

it’s great that you’ve

found your passion in life! A lot of people can’t even get around to doing it. lol

Yeah, wouldn’t it be

great if John Lasseter or Brad Bird registered here and got all of our opinions?!?! That sounds like a great

idea, actually.

Mitch, don’t be silly. I’d still love to meet a cartoon character. They make me very

happy.

Anyways, my one dream is to be a film composer. I want to write music for films until I die.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, fills my heart more than writing/composing music. If I were ever to write a score

for a Pixar film, that would definitely be the day.

Dudes… I’m seeing

patterns here…

I’ll make sure your on my list!!

BTW, I bet almost everyone’s

wanted to meet an animated character. Heck, I’ve wanted to meet more than a couple characters!

Apart from working at Pixar, I want to be a comic book artist, a novelist AND an Art/English

teacher at high school. 'Nuff said.

I’ll follow

Mitch’s lead on this one.
Main Dream
Well my first dream when I was 5 was

to be ornithologist (bird scientist). That eventually branched out to all animals. By 10 I wanted to be a vet,

and after high school entered MSU as a pre-vet ('02). Heh, 6 months later I was like "yeah, screw

that." I found out that chemistry was the devil. No offence to any one who enjoys it, I just thought that

college level chem was ridiculously hard.
By this point I had been drawing for about a year and a half and

realized I put more effort into doodling in my notebook than taking chem notes. Everything I drew was influenced

by animation, both american and japanese. So I switched my major from pre-vet to studio arts. From then on, my

dream has been to go to an art school, get a good internship and get into a studio. Pixar, DreamWorks, Disney,

Electronic Arts, Rockstar, Nick and Cartoon Network are all good in my opinion. Just as long as animation/games

are being produced, I’m good with that. I’m not too keen on doing the whole free-lance thing. I’d be happiest

working in a group environment.

Side Dreams
I would love for one of my

stories to be an animation, but I think comic books are more likely to happen. I hate sound mixing/timing. I

can do it, I just don’t enjoy it. Besides, storyboarding and comics are essentially the same thing.
I would

also like to be an owner/breeder/handler with Papillons. I always wanted to show dogs.

Wow, it’s lovely hearing what everyone wants to do in their lives. It’s giving me that warm

fuzzy feeling inside!

Mitch- Thanks! I’m actually really pleased that

you’ve told us your “impossible” dream, since I’ve never met anyone who has such a dream and

therefore been able to tell them that my dream is also to meet a character in ‘real life’. I’d do anything to

be able to meet Randall, even if it was like for a limited time or something…The idea of being able to touch

those scales, see those green eyes…I guess logically, I know it isn’t going to happen, but that doesn’t stop

that sense of longing that you, I, and many others have.

I’ve stopped telling people about this dream

now, though. So many people just don’t get the idea of liking something so ‘weird’ so much, but in all

honesty, I can never understand how they CAN’T like a character in this way!

But to be able to spend some

time with Randall, tell him that everything’s gonna be okay, and just give him some comfort…Yeah, it’s a

dream. I’m not religious at all, and I’m not sure about the whole life after death thing, but if there is life

after death, and if there is a true heaven, part of the experience would be for this dream to come

true.

AnnoyingPerson95- Being the next JK Rowling is an awesome dream! You go

for it!

rachelcakes- It sounds as though you’re already on your way to

achieving your dreams! It may be time consuming to make each movie yourself, but with putting all of this effort

in, someone’s bound to notice! You’ve got the right idea, and since your aim is to make people really feel

things throughout your films, then all your films will be based on something worthwhile and this will show.

Aggie- Wow, composing film music…Very difficult, but very rewarding. I’ve

composed just a few pretty basic pieces in my time, and it was very tough going, so I think it’s very honourable

that you want to go into something so difficult, but definitely highly respected. Now making a score for a Pixar

film…! That is one heck of a dream!

Pixel Candy- Looks like you know

what you’re gonna do! A comic book artist? That sounds so cool! I love comic books, and you can see all

the time and effort put into every page…Good luck with the future!

Haunt- I hear what you’re saying about chemistry. My god, it’s so

difficult…But it’s cool that you’ve been able to adjust what you want for the future. Free-lance can be

pretty risky, so a group environment is usually the more secure way to go. Being involved in the creation of a

games sounds like it would be fun!

And my own dreams? Well, apart from the whole meeting a character

thing, I do have a few career paths I’d like to travel. I feel like a bit of an odd one out, since it seems that

a lot of people on here are very, very creative, and most people here want to be involved with Pixar in some way.

I logically know that for me, that’s never gonna happen, and either way, there are some other things that I’m

really interested in doing.

If all things go well with psychology at A-level, I plan on taking it for

degree and becoming a full time psychologist. I’d much rather deal with the really tough cases, like

schizophrenia and those who are suicidal, than dealing with children or anything like that, because these cases

are by far the most interesting, and I think it would be a pretty worthwhile job.

I wouldn’t do this for

too long, but would perhaps move into the propety market, doing up houses and selling them, and would probably

eventually move abroad, ideally to America. In my spare time, I’d like to write some books, go clubbing as often

as possible, and become a part time herpetologist (someone involved with reptiles).

But if the

oppurtunity ever arose, the coolest thing would be to go into business, or the stock markets. Whenever I watch

The Apprentice, I so long to be in their positions, the lucky sods!

lizardgirl-Yes I will.Yes I will.

My dream is to become a professional successful performer. I would love to sing and/or dance

and/or act on stage or in film or in an animated work.

My impossible dream is to play a good, supporting

Super Hero role in the Incredibles sequel.

My dream is to work in the animation business (Like that was a surprise) . After college

here, I’m moving to California, going to CalArts, and then making my mark at Pixar and Disney.

I can’t believe I never replied to this… My apologies,

lizardgirl.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I’m glad I’m not the only

one in the boat! I’ve never told any member of my family (except my sister) about my “impossible”

dream because it’s rather unusual and quite weird. They might give me funny looks… (snigger)

Ahh…famous lines “Wishes come true”…wish on a star heh…if only it were that easy heh heh.
