Yes, this has to the dumbest idea for a topic ever, but I wanted to know how everyone arranges their Pixar DVDs. Do you put them in chronological order (like myself)? Do you put the Toy Storys together? Do you not care? (Again, I appologize for the waste of space.)
I have a separate self for animated and non-animated movies. (wonder where Roger Rabbit is gonna go when I get it… ow, my OCD hurts)
And I have certain studios grouped together. Ghibli, Pixar, and Aardman stuff is all chronological order by release. I’ll do the same with Disney films but I don’t have to many of those as I’m waiting for Blu-Ray releases.
i put mine in order of enjoyment. Favorite to Least Favorite.
- The Incredibles
- Toy Story
- Toy Story 2
- Wall-E
- Ratatoulle
- Monster’s Inc.
7)Finding Nemo
Cars - A Bug’s Life
Pixar films (and Steve Buscemi films ) are separate from the other films, and Pixar films go in chronological order.
When they’re not all scrawled all over on my bedroom floor, I usually have it as follows:
- The Incredibles (mainly because that’s the first DVD I put on when kids come over to my pad, and that’s like all the time)
- Finding Nemo (for the fish tank special feature thingy, looks quite nice and it’s better than keeping real fish alive, which I always had a problem with )
- Ratatouille (remember I tried to make it based on the movie, and it failed? [check out the Pixar food thread] I’m trying again and again)
- Toy Story 2
- A Bugs Life
- Wall-E
- Monsters Inc.
Toy Story
Funnily enough, at the time of writing I no longer have a copy of Cars. Heh. I should also mention the piling is not indicative of my favourite to least favourite (aebit TI & Ratatouille), because I watch the films on a spur-of-the-moment, craving-based basis.
I don’t have many Pixar DVDs, just mainly my favorite films. I would get Ratatouille, but I’m sort of protesting the lack of supplemental features (such as commentary) on the standard DVD. And I just can’t sit through WALL-E for whatever reason. I don’t know where I can get a good A Bug’s Life DVD and I hate Cars.
I put mine in release date order.
Toy Story
Toy Story 2
Monsters, Inc.
Finding Nemo
The Incredibles
Pixar Short Films
Oh, and I already have a special spot for the Up DVD.
I put them in chronological order with my Short Films DVD at the end. But I’ve become so disorganised lately that they’re either next to my computer scattered around, or in my room. I need to have quick access to them to take screencaps, get audio clips etc. I don’t actually own all of the Pixar DVDs gasp Yes, I’m the worst hardcore Pixar fan ever. There’s 3 that I need to complete my collection, and the others I don’t own, I have copies.
But… where does Monsters Inc. go?! It could go between the Pixar and Buscemi films, but then the Pixar ones wouldn’t be in order!
Fett101- Haha, I hadn’t thought of that! But generally I put my very battered Monsters, Inc. DVD in chronological order with all of the other Pixar ones.
I really don’t have a particular order. Somedays, I would arrange them from my favorite on the top to my least favorite on the bottom. Other days, I don’t care, as long as TI is on the top.
rachelcakes1985: Don’t worry, I don’t own all of them either.
They are actually all scattered around in my DVD shelf, but the Pixar movies are usually all together. Cars is usually out and about, wherever I was watching it last. Like for a week it was down in my basement next to the PlayStation for I was watching it every night when I was kicked out of my room and forced into the basement on the futon. And I’ve had it in my mom’s room (by the PS again) or by the computer or on below the shelf the DVD player is (it’s current position). Cars doesn’t have a permanent home like the other five. And it’s my most worn out DVD. It’s like a bum you could say.
I have a special shelf just for Pixar movies, and they are in chronological order.
(Man do I need to get DVD copy’s of Toy Story 1 & 2…)
Despite the poor quality of the image (which I enhanced a bit in Photoshop), you get the general idea.
Notice that there are two versions of Ratatouille – the regular DVD and the Blu-Ray disc, the latter of which is nudged in between the “Incredibles” and Ratatouille DVDs. I also have a fullscreen version of The Incredibles, and I think my dad has a widescreen copy of the same film. I find it funny that we have extras of every one of Brad Bird’s films, including The Iron Giant. Just goes to show who our favorite Pixar director is. (snigger)
Setting aside the fact that my mom and I are extremely practical when it comes to organizing films on our shelves, it’s absolutely imperative that the Pixar collection remains on a shelf that my little sister can reach, since some of the only animation-related films that my sister will watch are Pixar ones (for the most part).
To get to the main point of this thread, my family and I class our Pixar films chronologically, with the Pixar Short Films collection at the end of the stash. We basically line them up the way Rachel does it.
Interesting thread, 1986!

Lol, I dont have my DVDs arranged in any way. I stick them wherever I can find room for them, which right now is in various boxes and drawers. I just gotta remember what DVDs are where is all.
I keep my animated separate from live-action. For live action, I group by topic and series (i.e. all batman films together, all Star Wars movies together). For animated, I group by studio and for Pixar I arrange in chronological order.
Not too long ago, I used to buy lots of great DVD titles (regardless of them being Pixar movies or not) and arrange them in alphabetical order. Even though only one of them is a Pixar movie (Cars), it was kinda a cool experience, as it felt like I was a professional DVD collector… for a while.
Nowadays, I spend too much money on snacks and junk food to buy anything at all…
I got waaaaaayyyyy too many DVD’s to keep track of where I put them, so everything is mostly scrambled on all shelves. Only thing I put together are the DVD’s from TV series like the simpsons and family guy and such, they are in order on a different shelf.
