I’m now the weekly co-film reviewer for a local paper, the Santa Maria Sun . So anyone who has read all the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic and wants to read just one more can check my reviews out at:
Unfortunately, it’s not a job exactly, it’s more of a gig. It’s freelance, I’m not on staff. But it is still a really, really cool gig .
This week’s review is “Traitor”.
WALL-E -
No free tickets . The theater here…the people who work there are very nice, but the company is very, very, very corporate. I also write for an annual Best of Local Businesses issue of the paper (It’s basically free advertising for the businesses). Every year the theater wins Best Place to Go on a First Date, and they’re the only ones who say they’re not allowed to talk to the press. I even called corporate one year, and said that they had won “Best Place to Go on a First Date” and the corporate person said, “well I don’t think I can say anything about that”
It’s really weird to me because the local live theatre companies I review give me my ticket free and one or two guest tickets free - for people that aren’t even writing the review!

I’ll definitely review “Up” when it comes out!
I did already work in a reference to Pixar in my review of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
That’s awesome, dude! I used to be the film critic for my school and am now in the process of getting a part-time job at a local paper that desperately needs a second critic. Any advice you could give me on how to make my revies stand out or be noticed?
