Hi folks! Apologies for my recent absence! Life has been really hectic for me the past couple of weeks(or should I say months!) and unfortunate to say, there’s still a few more busy weeks to come)=…
But anyhoo, I just wanted to share this with you guys!
Anyone ever had a virtual haircut? If not, pull out your earphones, close your eyes, and try this out!
That was incredible! How did they do that? And on Youtube too! You could actually hear not only the direction of Luigi, but his distance from you too! And I almost winced when he held the scissors and razor to my ear! And you do realise that he shares the same name as the Italian Fiat in Cars…
Apparently the “Cetera” algorithm he describes is used in hearing aids… Thanks for the link ilikepinatas! That was a treat to my ears. Aurally amazing!
I wish more music were recorded this way. It would be awesome to listen to music where the instruments are positioned at countless angles in three dimensional space.
There’s also a way to simulate the binaural effect without the use of a binaural microphone; it’s called HRTF processing (head-related transfer function).
That was really cool, but I admit that I was freaking out when the scissors and razor came near. Thanks for the link, ilikepinatas. I think I’m going to take my headphones off now.
How do they do that?! Well, I know how because the Italian guy explained it, but still… It actually felt like someone was in the room with me. I cringed when the scissors got near my ears. Really weird.
That was so cool! It seems so real, like he came out of the computer and was right in the room with me! Wow! I, too, cringed near the scissors and the razors. It just sounded like the headphones were going to clip my ears!
When I first introduced this to my sister, she thought it was going to be PR-T. Actually, that’s a pretty interesting idea. Can you imagine a virtual beauty parlor with this robot?
