Some of you members may not know this, but if you access your “Profile” page you have the option of entering a condensed biography of yourself and your interests. I’ve been checking out a few of you guys’ bio pages and have found some of them to be quite interesting and/or entertaining! I thought it would be kinda fun to talk about each others’ biographies and share interests and opinions on various subjects mentioned.
Happy posting!
My Favorite Biography:
Mell ‘Didst thou ever want to be a pirate?’ O Drama - Entertaining, witty, and downright hilarious, Mell (AKA Babyface)'s bio page takes the cake for me. I quite enjoyed reading it; it gave me a good chuckle. Heheh.
Honorable Mentions:
JesusFreak - Not only is it funny in parts, but I’ve found that we seem to share similar interests. We both wouldn’t be where we are today without Jesus, and we both love Miyazaki’s productions!
Dash - I don’t know why, but his page makes me laugh.
Bill and PV - Way to go for striving to achieve your goals no matter what the circumstances! I wish both of you guys well, and I hope you reach the top of the ladder!
Pixfan - Her biography page had me laughing a fair few times. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who has a passion for martial arts, as well. (snigger)
rachel - The fact that it’s both interesting and well-balanced caught my attention. It’s also constructed in a very clean fashion (as is lizardgirl’s), which is something that I admire.
JamieLew - Although extremely simplistic, it conveys a lot of information.
DElf - The first sentence just sells it. Plus, it’s a great read. Just take a look at it… (snigger)
Thanks for mentioning mine, Mitch . My favorite biography by far is PV 's (and I’m not just saying that because she’s my absolute favorite person on the boards) . I don’t know… I relate so much to PV . For starters, I was always (and still) treated like dirt by other people. Maybe it’s because I have Asperger’s Syndrome (a mild form of autism)… I don’t know… every school that I’ve gone to, there has always been someone who puts me down.
And the thing about her is that she has talent far beyond anything I’ve seen before or since. Her drawing ability… is awe-inspiring for me, and I hope that when I manage to finally get my sketches up here, they’ll inspire her. We have the same interests (except Tony Rydinger) , the same passion for animation… she feels like a long lost relative to me… plus, she’s got a beautiful voice.
Uh, I really like yours Mitch because I like your writing style. It is really clever and keeps the reader entertained. It made me laugh a few times as well.
Yeah, I like lizardgirl’s as well, because it is short and sweet, and it is interesting to read her hobbies outside of Pixar.
PS: Thanks for what you said about my bio, Mitch. I think it is quite boring, but I’m glad you liked it.
Bill - Really? I didn’t know that you had that. It doesn’t cause you too much stress, does it?
Wow. It sounds as if PV is a very inspirational person to you. I consider her to be something like the “mother of Pixar Planet” in a way. I take it that she has the same effect on you. Heheh.
I’ve only read a few bios so far, but I like what I’ve seen! It’s just so cool to find out more about the people that we all speak to on almost a daily basis.
Aw, glad you like it, Mitch, I think yours is cute, too!
I’m just glad to see y’all are using them! I figured when I was re-designing the boards that if they were going to be down for a while, everyone had better have something good to come back to. It’s great to be able to find out more about everyone and see all your other interests!
sniggers I need to take the time to update mine I suppose. Hmm… I’m in a REALLY boring class right now.
Bill you sound like me… I’ll let others explain that more thoroughly.
I’ve always been facinated by the link between Pixar and the ASDs, especially Asperger’s Syndrome. I know of no less than 5 members that fall into that category and many more of us are directly affected by it. I myself have a kid brother who’s an autist (PDD-NOS). He’s almost 10 and also loves Pixar. Some have even said that I myself am almost bordeline as I meet several of the criteria.
I think it has to do that Pixar movies are a very sensual experience of colors and sound where great care is taken in making it work and, of course, there’s story. It’s that kind of organization that attracts and maintains the attention of autistic kids and adults.
Dash-Why thanks for saying what I wanted to say. (Just kidding.)
My cousin is 7 and has autism. What’s more, he likes the Pixar films too!. Pixar has done it again!
(PS-I had a really tough day at school, and it involved the other kids. It was really horrible-if anyone wants to talk to me about it I’d prefer you’d do it via PM. )
Mitch - Would it be better if I say no? Well, it varies, uh… I can’t really describe it very well. I’ve been on medication for it. In fact, I’ve very recently got taken off a pill a little over a few weeks ago, and am now wearing a patch that delivers medicine directly into my brain. The wonderful thing about that is that you can take it off and it stops working. With the pill, you’re stuck with it all day.
As a matter of fact, when I first joined here, I stummbled upon a disscussion about autistic people and Pixar. Go figure.
Seriously though, I’ve been through a lot in my life. I was born 2 and 1/2 months premature weighing in at 2 pounds , " something" ounces. They gave me 27 days to live… I’m lucky. I have my health, and am doing better than most people who were born premature… at least that’s what my mother tells me.
But back on topic… I’m surprised that I’ve revealed this much to you all.
Mell (AKA Babyface) - You’re welcome, and thank you!
Yeah, I was actually pretty pleased when I discovered the biography section in the profile page. I had wanted to express myself in a more effective way, but wasn’t able to before the bio page itself was integrated into the system. I’m glad you thought of it! Heheh.
Bill - Wow. Well, praise God that you made it through all that! I had no idea that quite a few people carry that specific syndrome…
My sister is mentally delayed, but is not autistic. Compared to other children in her “division”, she is a relatively mild case. The only thing she can’t do is speak fluently and go to the bathroom by herself. Other than that, she catches onto things pretty quick… Not to mention, she also happens to lovePixar’s productions. She knows every line in every single one of their films (except for A Bug’s Life) and one of her favorite cartoon characters is Lightning McQueen.
It seems as if a good percentage of autistic and mentally delayed individuals find great interest in Pixar films, perhaps even more so than “normal” entities. Hm. Interesting…
Why thank you very much, Mitch! I don’t really like the way my bio turned out, and I’ve never gotten around to fixing it up. Yours is pretty much awesome, though!!!
