I’m going to try to be as subtle about MY position as possible when I say this (off-topic warning): I’m not sure you should’ve mentioned the comics, mentalguru, as they’ll fuel your “enemies”. Still, at least you didn’t specify.
The guy with “socks and stuff” would be George Sanderson. If you ask me, he was kind of depressing, but in a comical way, what with being, as Curly of the Three Stooges would call it, “a victim of circumstance”.
Anyway, still not revealing mine yet until TSS posts up the video contest submission thread.
Boo for being adorably innocent, unaware that she’s causing so much commotion, and Mike Wazowski, for being funny.
Come to think of it, Mike probably would’ve gotten more laughs if he brought a tape recording of everything that happened to him during the movie to a kid’s room than he would as a stand-up comedian. He’s funnier by accident, I mean.
Really? I have three brothers myself although there were no monsters with their names in the movie, lol. I find it very reassuring that you are both a fan of Randall and Mike, not too many that are from where I have surfed the net.
I loved this movie, my favorite characters are the three main characters. Its a ite for me. Boo is adorable, Mkey is soo funny and I think Sulley is just adorable with Boo and he’s so sweet and supper strength and smart. Its so hard to choose for me between these three.
…it would probably make sense to explain my reasons, lol…as I have stated, my four favorite characters are Mike, Sulley, Boo, and Randall
Mike and Sulley- I can’t help but find a liking for these two, Crystal and Goodman had very good timing especially since it seemed that they played off of each other so well. How Mike and Sulley’s friendship was tested also is something I love, to imagine that one little girl can cause them to go through all the crazyiness and in the end, they are still able to be friends is still amazing, for most people normally something that puts that much of a bridge in their friendship is sure enough more likely to end it more than anything else and it would stay cut despite the passing of time…sure Mike has a slight ego (honestly what man doesn’t ) but Sulley is clearly the right monster to handle all that, lol.
Boo- She is honestly a sweet little girl, reminding me of my own brother at the age of four…the only thing that is strange is how quickly she fell asleep, honestly, what toddler sleeps that quick?
Randall- Out of all the characters, Randall is one of my favorites, his design reminds me of something like a strange dragon like creature, his color is also one of my favorite colors next to black of course. His character reminds me of so many other characters that I like personally, characters whose lives are somewhat dark, full of many things, full of both the good times along with that of the bad as well, a character that out of all of the MI characters, he seems the most real to me…he shows emotions that we all understand such as jealousy, anger, sadness, all real emotions that we have all experienced at one time or another within our lives…while I understand that Pixar gave him the role of villian for this film, he doesn’t seem to be an evil creature but only one that is misunderstood…
So there you have it, my favorite characters once again and why I like them…
I know s/he is only in one scene of the movie, but my favorite character is that fluffy monster that walks down the street towards the beginning of the movie. I don’t know why.
My favorite has always been Randall because he’s so mysterious and isn’t really given a backstory. I also think he has more of a rivalry with Mike than Sulley although i’m not surprised with someone who’s practically racist to you.
I also like Roz with her slow voice and the abominable snowman. “Snowcone? -Don’t worry it’s lemon.”
My favourite character has always been Randall too! He definitely is a bit of a mystery.
But I could never see the racist angle…I always took it that the “lizard boy” line was coming from the same place as Randall’s insult to Mike; “one-eyed cretin”. They’re just using the feature that stands out most on the other guy as an insult, and for Randall it happens to be that he’s scaly and for Mike it’s his glaring one eye…
There seem to be lots of other Monsters who appear reptilian textured in the film, so I don’t see Randall as a minority at all. =S
Interesting to look that it that way though.
Show me just ONE other monster in the movie who had scaly skin, excluding Ted(we all know birds have scaly legs) or Celia Mae’s “hair”. I’ve watched that movie many, many times, stopped it, paused it…never seen ONE scaly, reptilian monster…other than Randall. I would appreciate at least a screen cap. There were lots of monsters with odd numbers of eyes, even at least one other cyclopsian monster(Celia Mae), lots of little oblong-shaped monsters(Mike, Fungus, etc.), lots and lots tentacle monsters and slug-like monsters and big shaggy, furry monsters, and plenty with long tail, but only one with scales. And naturally, he’s supposed to be the “bad guy”. I’ve posed this challenge before(finding another scaly, reptile-like monster in the movie)and no one has yet to show me a screen cap of one or even indicate which scene he/she is found in. Even the “dragon”-like monster who incinerates his own newspaper with a sneeze, and serpentine-bodied Sheri Flint do not have scales.
Actually, I CAN counter that argument that there was no other PURELY reptilian monster, pitbulllady: that one huge monster during Mike and Sulley’s walk to work. To further specify, in the outtakes the monster was played by Rex from the Toy Story movies.
Rex wasn’t in the actual movie itself, PLUS he’s a toy, and of course dinosaurs were not reptiles at all and the carnivorous dinosaurs didn’t even have scales, but were probably covered in down or feathers all over. They were basically giant, toothy, flesh-eating flightless birds. Ted the Giant Chicken was also a bird; he even cackled like a regular chicken, just with much more volume!
But all we see of Ted is his scaly legs, nothing more. And just because something sounds like something else doesn’t necessarily mean that it IS that something else. And this DOES apply to some animals.
Don’t get me wrong; I acknowledge that Mike’s hatred for Randall is rather unusual. I’m just skeptical about whether Randall was as much an outcast as you say he is, even despite he probably is one.
Though to be honest, hearing a snake make a rooster sound is quite a stretch…though is hilarious ^0^
Though even at basis, Randall’s the only M.I. employee we see that’s reptilian.
Oh by the way uhh…for the moderators, this is not intended to turn into a discussion on Randall, merely informing the one member on the basis to better understand a view point of which they are unfamiliar.
