Favorite Fantasia sequence

(I looked up the archives and only saw a Fantasia 2000 thread,)

So while watching the Olympics I keep catching the United Airlines ads that use Rhapsody in Blue. And every time I hear it I’m reminded of Fantasia 2000. It’s not my favorite piece, but a good one. My favorite piece of both movies is The Firebird Suite. Lovely character designs; beautiful, sweeping camera movements; and backgrounds are phenomenal. I aspire to do animated music videos, and to be able to board and execute something of that quality iand scope s my goal.
So my question is your favorite sequence over all. If you want to be even more technical, which had the best animation, and which had the best feel for the music?

Oh, and if anyone ever asks me what my favorite disney critter is I usually say the elk from FBS. He’s adorable!.

I favor “The Sorceror’s Apprentice” from the classic Fantasia film. The reason why is…simply, the music gives me goosebumps.

I agree with PV. That is also my favorite scene, and it kept me on the edge of my couch when I was watching.

It sounds crazy, but I’ve never been big on the segment. Nonetheless I was very pleased that it was re-released in Fantasia 2000. Like or dislike, I can’t disrespect the classics.

My favorite sequence in Fantasia…ooh, that is tough for my to choose. I liked how imaginative they were in each sequence. My favorite would probably be the part with the dinosaurs, for some reason. Dinosaur life just looks so intense and interesting. I also like the dances ( I don’t remember much) that had a part with cute little mushrooms and all sorts of other creatures. I also enjoyed the Greek mythology sequence because I find Greek myths appealing. And I can’t forget the Sorceror’s Apprentice- it’s classic and wonderful. Oh, and the ballerina cartoon animals like the hippos were hilarious.
Heck, I love all of Fantasia!

As for Fantasia 2000, I enjoyed that one as well. The most memorable one out of Fantasia 2000, for me, would be Noah’s Ark with Donald Duck in it. Really humorous (though wordless) twist. I lol’d when Donald [spoil]sees two other normal ducks walk into the ark.[/spoil]

I would love Fantasia so much but I have looked in loads of stores and they do not sell it anymore and eBay charges ridicoulous prices and I am really annoyed as that was the main thing I wanted for Christmas and my favourite sequence is The Sorcerers Apprentice

There are so many great scenes. Night on Bald Mountain, The Sorceror’s Apprentice, Nutcracker Suite are all great, but my favorite is EASILY the deleted scene set to Debussy’s Clair de Lune. Beautiful!

Actually, The Sorceror’s Apprentice was my favorite out of all the scenes because… it was the only scene I could remember in Fantasia. :stuck_out_tongue: But, that scene was good, because

  1. it has my favorite Disney character, Mickey, in it,
  2. great use of animation at its time; you can’t expect Pixar material then,
  3. ???
  4. it is Disney, and
  5. great score.

That’s my favorite part too. In fact, it’s the only one I can remember. I’m pretty sure I have Fantasia on VHS, but still “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is the only memorable one for me.

Wow, I havent watched that movie in so long. (probably because it is so long). I like the Greek Mythology bit and the Winter bit with the fairies freezing everything. The Sorocerer’s Apprentice is pretty good too. I like the brooms :stuck_out_tongue:

The greek gods one was weird to me as a kid, but my favorite was the dancing hippos and crocodiles. The mean sorceror always scared me, his face was so angry in Sorceror’s Apprentice.

I haven’t seen this in such a long time, I can’t even remember where my VHS player is, never mind the VHS itself…

Anyway my favourite scene was one which involves floating petals and fish or something along those lines, I forget the exact sequence.
