I don’t want to jump the gun, but TS1 is still probably my favorite of the 3. The Joss Whedon dialog still pushes it a little bit above the rest. I still need to see TS3 multiple times and let it sink in for me though, but it probably edges out TS2.
Same for me. I know Toy Story is still my favorite but I have to see it again to make sure I like it better than Toy Story 2.
Having only seen the third once, I’ll go with the second.
The third was more well-made and epic, yes. But it was so dark and depressing. The second is always fun to watch. It contains no [spoil]totalitarian regimes, psychopathic bears, or holding hands while waiting for death.[/spoil].
Those sound more like cons for TS2 than pros…
If you want to be motivated into killing yourself, go see TS3.
I’m going to have to say TS3 was my favorite…It really hit a chord with me especially because the day before it came out I graduate from Middle School and it made me face the harsh reality that I will be an adult in just 4 short years and that I’m leaving my childhood behind. I also am not going to lie …but…being the fangirl I am I really enjoyed [spoil] the Buzz/Jessie relationship ^_^[/spoil]
I just saw Toy Story 3 for the second time this weekend and I loved it. I thought it was a brilliant addition to the Toy Story series, the adventure was suspenseful and heartwarming, and the beginning and opening scenes were some of the best created by Pixar.
That being said, I still much rather prefer Toy Story and Toy Story 2 to Toy Story 3. This may seem biased, since I also grew up with both films, but I just thought that 1 and 2 had so much more going for it than 3 did. The earlier films were much more slice of life film, and while it did have several emotional undertones to it, it also knew how to balance the right amount of comedy into it. I didn’t get that with Toy Story 3. It was hilarious at times, but I kind of thought that that was undermined moreover by the films constant dark undertone. To me, Toy Story 3 felt more like a horror film than a light hearted emotionally touching film, which is how I always recognized the originals as being. Still, I did really love the storyline, I just prefer 1 and 2 to 3.
I like Toy Story movies. I love Toy Story 3. I know that this movie is a bit darker and more intense than the first two. Toy Story 3 had humor, emotions and romance. To me, Barbie and Ken made Toy Story 3 more fun and better. They were so funny and cute.
! & 2 were, and always will be tied to me, and after watching 3 the second time I have to say that I once again have a tie for my favorite Pixar film (and favorite film in general) between Toy Story 3 and Up.
I ahve to say the first Toy story. 3 was amazing, dont egt me wrong, but it wasnt happy. I didnt get that same really good feeling from it, even after the happy end. I did like it more then 2. but 1 will always be the best movie ever…
My order
- TS3
- TS2
- TS1
They are all amazing though! I just loved the plot, animation, and characters better in the thrid one. The third one also was a lot more emotional to me. I laughed and cried.
I think I’ll pick 3. It’s really hard to decide between 2 and 3, but I think I liked 3 better. I think it’s because it was funnier and more emotional.
I loved the third one, but nothing can top the way I feel about the first one. I grew up with that, and it’s awesome. Two wasn’t a bad movie, but I was never a huge fan of it.
I missed a lot of the toys in the third though, like Bo, Rocky, RC, Lenny, Mr. Mike, etc. etc.
Forgot about this poll
anyhow,
1st 1
2nd 3
3rd 2
i can see what all the hullabaloo about TS3 is, but in 5 years time, when people mention Toy Story i think they’d automatically think of the first two instead of number 3 they have more staying power even though i likeee number 3 more than 2.
Now I can finally choose, I went for the original Toy Story, which to me is the best Pixar film ever, let alone the best of the trilogy. Toy Story 3 comes in at a near second place, with Toy Story 2 following very shortly behind- all of them are amazing, but there’s something about the original that’s very special to me.
Having seen all three, here’s my verdict:
I pick Toy Story 1 as my first pick, for sentimental reasons and because it’s the most nostalgic for me. It may be the Pixar movie with the simplest story and graphics, but it is certainly one of the most charming. It’s a buddy-cop, prison escape (Sid’s house) and an adventure movie all rolled into one, and many of the toys in this movie are actually from my childhood compared to the subsequent movies (like toy soldiers, Etch and Sketch, Gnomes, and Slinky. Yeah, I had a Slinky!).
Toy Story 3 is second because it has the most complex and emotionally-rich plot. The stakes are also higher, the toys are facing their very own mortality and demise, in addition to finally having to face the dreaded day of their owner leaving them. The stakes are higher, the climax is bigger and scarier than the previous two combined, and the side characters are the most in any Pixar movie besides Cars. And yet, it never loses that sense of joy in the mundane, or the beauty in the smallest things like friendship and love.
Toy Story 2, while the last on my list, is still great for a number of reasons. First, it expands on the abandonment theme that was touched on the first movie in the form of Jessie. Second, it takes the action in the first film to a whole new level with the elevator shaft sequences and the passenger jet escape climax. And last, we discover more about Woody and Buzz’s history, and get to see more sides to the characters we know and love, something a good sequel sets out to achieve.
Hit the nail on the head for me there.
All three are brilliant films, and overall the Toy Story Trilogy as a whole would sit firmly as one single entry on my top 10 list of films of all time, but narrowing it down, it would have to be 1>3>2.
All three are so different yet so similiar, though. It’s really hard to compare them.
I think the third is the best one. It’s even my favourite Pixar film. Not only the plot was awesome but the animation, all the new characters that I fell in love with and the score, which I really liked alot…
My favorites are :
- Toy Story 3
- Toy Story 2
- Toy Story
As much as I loved the third, the first set the president for awesomeness. I chose it not just for nostalgia reasons, but the jokes that went over my head as a child sank in during my recent viewing and solidified #1 as a true gem. Also gotta love that Woody-mocking shark.
