to. Or you can name them all. Ever person did an excellent job, but let us see who your personal favorite
is.
Who is it and why? You can name more than one if ya want
to. Or you can name them all. Ever person did an excellent job, but let us see who your personal favorite
is.
Let’s see:
Favorite Pixar Actor - Dave Foley. I just
love his quirky voice and personality – it sure fits his character, that’s for sure.
Favorite Pixar Actress - Ellen DeGeneres. She’s hilarious – her
performance in Finding Nemo was beyond excellent (even more so to me because
Finding Nemo is my favorite film).
(Sorry I’m posting so much tonight –
I’m in a posting mood…heh.)
Me, I love:
Sarah Vowell: She played Violet so well. Her voice was cute, smart, and
brilliant. She did an excellent job. In addition, the Vowellet part of the DVD was just incredible as
well.
Holly Hunter: Perfectly done. She did an incredible job with Helen. She convinced the audience the
she was a caring mother to the kids. No one couldn’t have done it any better.
The Star Swordsman - Oh yes,
they are both wonderful actresses, as well. Ms. Vowell played her role so perfectly – there is no mistaking her:
she is the perfect Violet. I love that teenage “droll”/bored voice she put on for her character.

And what about your favorite male actors?
Brad Garrett- I loved him as
Gloat and Dim.
He’s got a ‘gentle giant’ kind of character ![]()
aand … cant think of anyone except
…
Ellen DeGeneres- because she was freakin’ hilarious! ![]()
I think Ratzenburger has to be up there, just because he has voiced such a wide range
of memorable characters in all the Pixar films. Holly Hunter as Helen was so perfect- Pixar always do such a
great job matching voices with characters. Steve Buscemi as Randall was impressive too, as well as Frank Oz as
Fungus- the combination of the two was very effective.
Well, this should be an obvious one
Craig T
Nelson: Excellent choice to be Mr.Incredible. I loved his fatherly, manly sound. Sounds perfect for a great
strong man like Bob Parr.
Spencer Fox: The most adorable person in the studio played the most adorable boy
in the movie. I love his kid like voice. Funny yet intense at the same time.
Larry thre cable guy! (Mater off of Cars) He is so darn
funnie!
git-R-Done!
Brad Bird and Spencer Fox tie as
my favorite male voice actors in a Pixar film. Their performances as Edna Mode and Dash are captivating and
lovable, and they both have that special energy no one else has that they lend to their characters to make them
believable.
Sarah Vowell is my favorite female voice actor in a Pixar film. Her voice is so unique and is
a perfect match for Violet’s personality. I eventually became so intrigued by Sarah that I
begged my dad to go with me to see her in Washington D.C., and now he loves her.
We’re looking forward to seeing her again in April.

Oh gosh, I can’t believe I forgot about Mr. Ratzenburger. Yes, I agree in that
he is a wonderful actor. His voice is also quite unique – everyone’s voice is unique, come to think of it. I
love it even more so because I can do his voice…
IMO, he is the ultimate Pixar
voice actor. Other famous actors and actresses have come and played their part, but none of them have stuck
around like Ratzenburger has, and despite the fact that he plays so many different characters, his voice suits
each and every one of them.
Prepare to roll your eyes.
Heheh. I just had to say this.
I feel bad for not listing Michael Bird as a favorite voice actor. I
don’t know why I didn’t. I guess because I like him for a different reason <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In
Love" />, but even so, I admire his
ability to act. His part as Tony Rydinger in The Incredibles was very short, but he
acted out the character well. His performance is what makes me feel confident that Tony truly likes Violet.

lizardgirl - Exactly. He seems to “fit” every one of his characters like
the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Is it true that Pixar sometimes models their characters after the voice
actors/actresses that portray them? I thought I heard a rumor concerning that theory once…
That theory is not without validity. After they cast Jim
Varney (mayherestinpeace) as Slinky Dog, they actually redesigned Slinky to fit Jim’s voice better. I reckon a
bit of both happens.
RMS - Hmm…yes, I figured
as much. I thought that that theory had some factual reference to it…
Thank you for the information.

PV: What a surprise.
I don’t blame you. I actually admit he did a rather impressive
job. He was great acting cool, and at the end, he portrayed nervousness incredibly well too. A very small role,
but incredble job. Brad Bird must’ve coached his son well.
Didn’t they also do that with Dory and the woman (whose name
slips my mind) who played her? Like the freckles on Dory’s face were added on at a later date to make her match
the actress.
lizardgirl - You mean Ellen DeGeneres? Really? If they did change Dory to suit her,
I wouldn’t be surprised at all. If you look at the old Finding Nemo teaser trailer,
you’ll notice that Dory looks a little different from the “finished version”. I guess they did make a
few changes in the end.
There is some other character who was “tinted” to match his voice
actor/actress in profile/personality, though. I keep forgetting who it is – it keeps slipping my mind. ![]()

Now
that Nemo was mentioned, my favorites Actor/Actress from that movie:
Ellen DeGeneres: So funny, and so
well done. Loved her voice and did I say funny? Yes I did.
Andrew Stanton: Crush, the coolest character in
the movie. You can’t beat his surfer talk. Excellent work by him.
Myself, I’m a big fan of Tom Hanks’ portrayal of Woody.
I really enjoy Hanks’ other work, which may have something to do with it, but nevertheless I still think that
he did an incredible job doing his part to bring Woody to life. You can really hear the emotional undertones in
his voice that may or may not necessarily be apparent in what the animators have the character do, which is
really the most that you can do as a voice actor. But he doesn’t go over the top in the transition to providing
only a voice, either, which I can imagine must be at least somewhat of a difficulty that new voice actors must
overcome.
And speaking of the actor inspiring parts of the character, Woody is definitely a great example
of that; while Tom Hanks probably didn’t inspire Woody’s looks a great deal, if at all, I remember from the
commentary that they said that his hand motions and everything during recording were a very significant factor in
the way Woody moves. Especially the scene where Woody has Buzz’s arm and is trying to convince the other toys
to rescue them from Sid’s house, they were going on and on in the commentary about how they just gave Tom Hanks
a fake arm and video taped him ad-libbing with it, and then chose some of the best parts and put them into the
film. ![]()
