TSS - The joke behind the Mater line comes from the American legal system where an attorney will charge you, and charge you a LOT to do anything at all. You have to pay them to make phone calls, sign papers, make motion, etc. You even have to pay them hundreds to thousands of dollars just to talk to one (it’s called a legal retainer so they officially become your lawyer and you can retain Attorney-Client priviledges). Needless to say it is very easy to run up a big bill very fast and actually the less they do for you, the more it will cost by comparison. Thus the joke is that Lightning owes Mater a rediculous amount of money despite the fact that Mater did practically nothing in court.
This, kiddies, is why tort reform has become such a popular topic in this country. =D
Mitch - Thanks for the tip. I guess we’ll have to keep using them until late August, but you never know. That choice is really up to the Moderators and Administrators.
I think that some members may not even get to see it until early October, but I suppose that spoiler tags shouldn’t be used for that long of a period. We’ll just have to wait and see…
The Star Swordsman - Haha! I love that one…
[spoil]“He’s your son?!” - Remy
“I have a SON?!?!” - Gusteau
“How could you not know this?” - Remy
“I-I-I am a figment of your imagination! You did not know; how could I?!” - Gusteau[/spoil]
Mitch- The thing is, if spoiler tags aren’t used until that time, then I’m just gonna have to stop coming onto the forum…Or the Ratatouille section, at least. I know it’s annoying to have to keep using the tags, but I guess it’s just as annoying as having to wait to see the film for months on end. So, delaying the release date is not only bothersome to those who have to wait, but also to those who don’t have to!
Bill - I know – it’s hilariously clever! (snigger)
lizardgirl - And so the annoying factor continues to reign around the universe… I hear ya’, though. We’ll probably just keep using spoiler tags in these instances until everyone has seen it; that way, no one will feel too “left out”.
Bill - Woah! I saw that mistake and edited it. (heheh)
Puh-ha! I love that part!
[spoil]“Ohhh. I see the theatricality of it. The rat arrives on the boy’s first night, I order him to kill it, and now he’s making me see it everywhere!! Ooooo!! Oh, oh, it’s here! No, it’s over there!!” - Skinner[/spoil]
I think I got that last sentence wrong, though. Still, it’s funny nonetheless.
Bill- I couldn’t think of any other quotes off the top of my head that haven’t probably been used before, and since there isn’t a short film quotes thread, I figured I might as well put it here. Okay, let’s think…
