Of course, when you see the footage of the race in it, you can see the effects weren’t completely done back then.
I love that teaser! Mater’s exceptionally funny in it. “I’m blind! I can’t see nothin’!” and “Ooo, I tell you what son, I drive my tires over a mile of busted glass just to see that picture right there!” 
I always wondered if they’re watching a movie titled Cars, wouldn’t it be like us watching a movie titled People? 
This is true. I think the main red race car is supposed to be a really early version of Lightning, cause he has the number 57.
I wonder if there’s a Cars Magazine in that universe
Well, that race was just an early test. The Lightning McQueen in it was a completely different model, and I think he even still had the old 57 number on him as opposed to the 95 shown in the film.

I remember being in the grocery store after seeing it, and all us kids were loudly repeating those lines while pushing the cart and stuff.

My PIXAR fandom started back in the 90’s with Toy Story, so I’ve seen just about every PIXAR movie. I wasn’t that fond of A Bug’s Life, though. Just something about it that sets it apart from the greats (Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Cars, etc.)
My Pixar fandom started back when I saw Toy Story 2 in theatres back in 1999. Something very nostalgic for me.
Anyway, I loved the scene in Cars where Doc does the slide in slow-mo. As a fan of the character, I always loved seeing that.
That would be perfect! It’d be just like People. I couldn’t imagine why not.

The first Cars? Yep! Let’s just say, I can see why they’re deleted.

That one’s creepy! I hate the one where Doc turned Lightning into the steamroller and Mater became the racecar. When Mater’s like, “I always wanted to be racecar.” His face is like evil. 
Was that supposed to be a nightmare scene. It coulden’t really happen.

I think the steamroller one was supposed to be a nightmare. Though I think he wakes up at the end and it turns out he really is a steamroller. I can’t remember though, it was kinda confusing, and I honestly haven’t watched any of those original bonus features in years.

Yes! That whole scene with Doc dirt racing is by far my favorite. 
I remember once I was watching it though, and one of my brothers just came up and skipped it. I was like, “Dude!”.

And to answer your question, no, Lightning wakes up from the dream and is his normal self, but says, “No no no, I’ll do the race!!!”
