Favourite Scene

Same here! I was hoping to learn more about them, since[spoil]part of the story was in Italy and all[/spoil]. They’re some of my favorite characters in the Cars world.

For sure! I too wonder how they ended up in America. I guess they could only spend so much time on their backstory but it left me wanting more! And you’re right SallyMcQueen, it was a relief. It kind of gave me more of a feeling like I got from the original Cars.

Same here! I was a wee bit startled  I can’t even imagine their headlights as eyes, but strangely when I was little that’s how I always could tell if it was a nice car or not (before Cars existed), was how their headlights looked

Actually, when the first movie came out, I thought it was weird that their headlights weren’t their eyes, because when I look at a real car, I see their headlights as their eyes.

Me too! I never put the two together though. It’s always been for me real cars have their headlight eyes, and Cars cars have their windshield eyes.

Yeah, that makes sense

Before Cars I thought the exact same. The headlights were always the eyes to me. Then when I saw they put them on the windshield I was like > :open_mouth: That.is.genius! I wouldn’t want the to have it any other way! And I haven’t looked at a real car the same way ever since. Every time I see a Mazda Miata I still can’t get over how identical they truly are to the twins in Cars.

Yeah, kind of like how those Cheveron commericial cars had the eyes on their headlights.

That’d be an inconvience to Lightning, as his are just stickers.

I’m so glad Pixar went with the windshield eyes. Gives the cars so much more human-like qualities and expressions! Ugh, I couldn’t stand it if the headlights were their eyes. That scene from the Brave Little Toaster still scares the living bejeebus outta me! :astonished:

Exactly! The small size of the headlights provide limited space to make expressions noticible. And since the movie is about inanimate objects, eye expressions are vital to make the story believable.

Yeah, a lot of people were like “Who the heck puts eyes on the windshield!?” before the film came out, so I kinda feel that scene was a sort of a “take that, naysayers!” from Pixar.

I’m so thankful they went with the windsheild after seeing [spoil]that one car in Paris.[/spoil] That freaked me out, but it was funny at the same time.

Oh yes, I think the entire reason they used the windshield is for the purpose of showing expression. They do a great job of it too! Sometimes I wonder what would happen if they got a bug on their windshield though… 8D

Agreed! Cars was the Pixar movie where I noticed the best expressions, I think it’s cause they can’t really use body language much (being a car and all), so they have to show much more expression in the eyes and mouth.

8D LOL, yes! Would it be like getting a bug in the eye? Ummm, OUCH! :open_mouth: And like that part at the final tie-breaker race in Cars, when Lightning’s coming in for his pit stop and you hear one of the forklifts from Chick’s team yell to Guido, “Hey tiny! You gonna clean his windshield?” I always thought how do they get their windshield clean if it’s their eyes?

Maybe the cars have some sort of eye protection. Kind of like contact lenses or something. That would explain the strange lack of cars screaming about bugs in their eyes.

My favorite scene in Cars was when [spoil]Lightning stopped at the finish line and went back to help The King[/spoil]. It was sweet.

In Cars 2, I liked the [spoil]chase scene at the beginning best. I kept being surprised as Finn’s many gadgets were put to use.[/spoil]

LOL, yes it would! Awww, that part always makes me tear up. <3 I love that part in Cars 2, also! It was an awesome way to open the movie. [spoil]And the part where Finn makes it look like he died and turns into a submarine-like thing was cool.[/spoil]

I had been watching lots of trailers and stuff for Cars 2 so I knew that [spoil]Finn couldn’t die in the first action scene, but I still got pretty worried when he went underwater. Good thing he has submarine attachments![/spoil] I love elite secret agents.

Yeah, Finn’s [spoil]one-man (er, car) oil rig raid/getaway[/spoil] was probably one of the most epic action sequences I’ve seen in animation. :stuck_out_tongue:

I really loved the clip that they showed in all the Cars 2 trailers where Finn comes racing along that spiraly thing and it blows up behind him. No matter how many times I see that it still looks cool. :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here! I love it so much.
