My favourite would have to be, without a doubt, the theatrical trailer because it grabs the viewer’s attention, it’s funny, cute, visually stunning, and it makes me want to see the movie so bad. It still gives me goosebumps no matter how many times I watch it. And the music… how could I forget that? I’m not so much a sci-fi girl (unless you count Futurama), but this makes me want to see it for the space scenes alone! Very effective trailer, yep.
Coming in a close second is the very first teaser trailer - the first half with Andrew Stanton’s introduction is so touching, especially because of the slightly painful reference to Joe Ranft. It gives a behind-the-scenes view of Pixar that people don’t usually get to see, and it makes me feel proud of them in a way, knowing that people would have learnt more about Pixar Animation Studios compared to before the general audience viewed that trailer. And the tagline ‘After 700 years of doing what he was built for, he’ll discover what he was meant for’ is so simple, yet says so much.
I kinda have a soft spot for Teaser 1. I remember I saw it when I went to see Ratatouillie last year, and that shot of WALLE staring up at the sky, with the stars reflecting in his eyes, kind of tugged at my heartstrings. That was my first expeirence with WALLE love, haha. Also, the little bit about Pixar was really cool, too.
Like most people here, though, I really like the theatrical trailer. Although I thought the movie itself was WAY better then the trailer. Seriously, I came in with very high expectations, and Pixar quite literally DESTROYED them. Even my dad, who said he thought he might be a little bored during the first half, came out talking about how great it was, and how much he enjoyed it.
…Great, after watching those trailers, now I wanna go see WALL*E a third time. xD;
(Yeah, I love this film, can’t you tell?)
The theatrical trailer, for pretty much all the reasons everyone else has said. Baa. I’m a sheep.
The theatrical trailer was possibly the first one I saw…I never really saw any teasers, at least, not on TV or anything like that, until just before the movie actually came out.
Theatrical all the way. Seeing that was when I was all “OH MY GOSH. This is gonna be REALLY cool. Is it June 27th yet? ”
Before Ratatouille was even out, I’d heard on wikipedia that it was a love story and didn’t have much dialoug, but it was so weird sounding I was like “no, this has to be a Wikipedia rumor. What’s the REAL plot?” I guess part of the reason it weirded me out is I imagined it as much more slapstick. When I thought of EVE, she came to me as more humanoid and I wasn’t expecting her to be such a major role or [spoil]share the emotions WALL-E had.[/spoil] So I had this very slapstick but cute idea in my head, and it just felt a little too out there.
Then I saw the trailer, and reality hit me. Seeing EVE’s character design and the way her and WALL-E interacted melted all the nervous away in seconds.
