Well, I’ve got 4 friends over so far, and we’ve tackled Toy Story 1 and 2 so far. It’s really awesome to see these great films again. Bug’s Life coming up here in a minute, I’ll be posting progress throughout the day, and my outlook on the movies at the end of the day.
I’ve done one of these before. They’re fun. ![]()
We had to move it over two days though, we kept falling asleep around Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. After 6 hours of sitting, you get really tired. ![]()
I’ve always planned on doing one but I never did finish it. I usually give up around Toy Story 1.
I tried to do one during Winter holidays but I got too comfy in my bed and fell asleep. But I’m going to do it again (without falling asleep) in the near future, I just need some snacks and drinks. This’ll be fun.
Good luck! Thats a good 13 - 14 hours of movie watching. ![]()
Try 17 hours. lol Just got through Bug’s Life, and Monsters Inc. Nemo up next. It’s been really great so far, Monsters blew me away. It’s a bit hard to stay awake though, with 3 hours of sleep
sounds fun! I’ll have to try it some time ![]()
ffdude1906: I hope you have fun with your marathon.
I hope you have fun, but I know I couldn’t do it, I need my beauty sleep.
Good luck and I hope you can get through it without nodding off!
Nemo and Incredibles are finished, good stuff! Now it’s off to catch Up. I dozed off for about 10 minutes during Nemo, but I took a cold shower afterwards, worked wonders! Be back in about 4 hours!
Back from Up, Cars is next. Still crying in Up ![]()
More updates to come, and expect a full review tonight!
Holly molly! You actually watched the previous films on DVD (presumably at home) then made a trip to the cinema to watch Up, and now you’re back home again to continue the next leg? ![]()
That’s amazing! I think I’ll try it sequentially one day… when I have all the movies and finish off with a theatrical viewing of Up/Toy Story 3. ![]()
Yes, yes I did. It’s been great, but I wish I could have finished it off with Up. Cars and Ratatouille are done now, all that’s left is little ol’ Wall•E!
I’ll be back soon! ![]()
And thus concludes my Pixar-filled day. It’s been a long haul, but absolutely worth every minute. It ended almost exactly where I had intended, Wall•E’s credits started rolling at 2:28 a.m.
Regretfully, I nodded off a bit during Nemo and Cars (and it was at a really bad spot for Cars as well :\ ) so I missed around 20 minutes or so of film.
Now for my individual reviews! (keep in mind, the scores I give are a bit harsh, considering I’m comparing Pixar’s films with eachother)

Toy Story : Wow, just wow folks, It’s been a loooong time since I took a gander at this sucker. It’s really amazing to see how far the quality of CG has come since this movie, but the story is as strong as ever. I was grinning ear to ear through the whole movie. When I saw this as a kid (although I’m still not much more today,
) I really enjoyed it, and revisiting it brought out a lot more stuff than before. The clever script, moving story, and amazing characters played out the plot better than I remember. The one word that describes this movie to me: Fun
Rating: 8/10
Toy Story 2 : From what I could remember before, the story wasn’t even as close to as strong to the original. Looking back, I can honestly say I was stupid. This movie surprised the heck out of me! The characters are still as memorable as ever, and the story wasn’t as near as awkward as I remember. Sure, the original is better in my opinion, but Woody and Buzz’s second outing still shines.
Rating : 7.5/10
A Bug’s Life : I’m honestly a bit disappointed with how this one turned out. It’s still got the Pixar touch, but not as much of it. It had a high standing with me as a kid, and it’s unfortunate to see it not play out as well seeing it today. Nevertheless, it’s still thoroughly entertaining and fun, and has a good plot. My biggest disappointment was that the characters didn’t stand out very well. They seemed a bit bland, and the circus bugs’ individual roles were too minor.
Rating: 6.5/10
Monsters Inc.: 1 word. WOW. I missed out on so much from this movie when I saw it the first time! I was blown away with Monsters, everything worked so beautifully together! The characters are great, the story is fun and charming, and the script was phenomenal. I can’t believe how much more I love this movie! I’m really stoked for Monsters 2 now. I’ve bumped this WAY up for my rankings! Excellent, excellent movie.
Rating: 8.5/10
Finding Nemo : I’ve seen this movie plenty of times, and I had seen it just recently. Maybe that’s why I nodded off a bit during a few parts. :\ Originally one of my favorites, it’s still a great flick, but I got so much more out of the others. This marathon has really changed my perspective on the earlier movies, as well as the newest ones. Nemo is a great family film, and the relationship between Marlin and Nemo is brilliantly done, but I found it covered in more humor and aesthetics than good story. Still, it’s really fun to watch, and has a lot of charm.
Rating: 7.5/10
The Incredibles : This is a really fun film, and I found a lot more to the dialogue than I remember. It’s really stylish, exciting, and has some moving parts to boot. I’d seen it plenty of times before thanks to my family forcing me to watch it like 5 times, so I lose a bit of love. It’s still a great movie, and the characters are played exceptionally. One of the most exciting Pixar outings.
Rating: 7.5/10
Up : What can I possibly say that no one doesn’t already know about me and this movie? Still my favorite, still crying at several parts, still wanting to go see it again, still in love with the characters, still staying til Luxo shuts off at the end, you get the picture.
Rating: 9.5/10
Cars : I had trouble staying conscious during this one (lack of sleep, and I have trouble paying attention to the plot), and I’m not totally surprised. I never was a huge fan of Cars, but the movie is still great in its own right. I’m not a fan of racing or anything but I like it. I happened to fall asleep at a pretty bad part though (when Lightning and and Sally go for a drive) so I lost a lot of the thick gooey part of the plot. It’s got a somewhat weak story, and stereotypical characters, which takes a bit away from it’s quality. Good, but definitely not my fave.
Rating: 6.5
Ratatouille : I remember seeing this (only once) and I was immediately taken in by the story. Remy and Linguine work wonderfully together, as well as the occasional schizzo Gusteau intervening from time to time. The story oozes beauty, and the characters interact very naturally. Seeing this again made me really happy, I forgot what made it such a great movie, and I’m glad to say it still has the same great feel for me.
Rating: 9/10
Wall•E : I’ve always thought that this movie got a bit too much credit. The first 30 minutes is a bit hard to endure, there’s not a lot going on cept Wall•E being super cute with his cockroach, and Eve’s eventual appearance and curiosity, and Wall•E’s 1 sided love with her. It takes quite a while for the movie to warm up, but once it hits full speed, there’s a lot to love. The plot seemed a bit serious the first time I saw it, but it was a bit better for me this time. There’s an awful lot of secondary characters that don’t do very much, but they add their own charm and character to the movie. Overhyped, but still moving and gorgeous.
Rating: 7/10
It’s been a pretty tiring, but oh so entertaining day today, I’m thinking about holding another one when Up hits DVD. Pixar has done a lot of amazing things, and it’s really great to absorb all of it in one long arduous day. I had loads of fun holding this thing, even if only 3 people showed up, but they stayed as long as they could. It’s really great to see all the old films that I couldn’t quite get all of back in the day again, and see what extra plot and story I can manage to get out of it.
Thanks Pixar, for a wonderful day. ![]()
Wow, you did it, ffdude1906!
You actually watched 10 films back-to-back! I feel like It’s like you’ve just witnessed an entire season of 24! (which is something I want to do one day, by the way)
Seriously, what made you decide to do that today and post a compilation review of all the Pixar movies? That’s amazing… that’s… congratulations!
I think it’s good to view all of them in one shot so the previous films are still fresh in your mind and you can do a clearer comparison. Seriously, that’s quite a feat! Great job, now go and get some shut-eye, will ya? ![]()
Yeah, it probably would have been a bit easier with more than 3 hours of sleep beforehand. I did manage to avoid the most sleep out of the 4 of us though, a friend of mine slept all the way through Nemo and half of TI.
I took a cold shower after Nemo, and WOW, it worked. I had trouble staying awake for Cars, but once Ratatouille came on, I was so attentive, I didn’t even yawn. Crazy stuff. ![]()
Holy cow. You’re crazy.

Congratulations on managing it, ffdude1906! I like your little reviews of each film as well.
It’s cool when you see a film that you haven’t seen for a long time and realise just how much you like it.
Say, that sounds like a good idea. I only have access to 5 of the 10 movies, so in the long haul I’ll probably have a much easier time than you did, but still filled with a lot of fun. I think I’ll start with Toy Story 1, and just go in order of releases from there, to A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Cars, and Wall-E. (Have to do this before returning it to the store)
I need to work up some money and pick up some of the older Pixar titles, while I’m thinking of it.
Yeah, I’d say go for it. Make sure you get some sleep beforehand if you end up getting all of the films, and start early. I started at 8 a.m. and finished at about 2:30 a.m., but keep in mind that this included a trip to the theater for Up. I had an absolute blast doing the marathon, and I’m planning on doing another one once Up comes out for DVD, hopefully I can let everyone know sooner and get a bigger crowd going. ![]()
Good luck!
