How or when did you all find out that Pixar
would be doing the movie Cars?
I was actually watching a NASCAR race when a commercial started with an
over head shot of Doc driving in the desert, not being able to see that there were eyes on the car I actually
thought it was a commercial for a vehicle dealership. There were quick shots from either side showing him taking
THE turn and the camera angle from underneath and when he skidded to a halt I
finally realized he was animated. That’s when the tagline of “From the manufacturers of…”
started. I flipped and I was psyched ever since.
Just wondered if anyone else had seen one like
this
The Incredibles
showed a teaser trailer for it . I was excited forever more ( even though i despised NASCAR back then ) .
Yeah, i saw it on the incredibles Dvd too.
And you know when I frist saw Lightning McQueen I thought is that a real racecar driver? I swear! that’s what I
thought! crazy, Huh?
Carfreak , i saw it
it the movie theater , not on dvd .
Oh, yeah well, I saw it on the Dvd.
Yeah, I remember that trailer, Life isa Highway. I don’t remember where exactly I
saw it, probably either on a DVD somewhere or online, but I do remember having seen it and thinking that it was
really cool and a funny idea. I kinda wish I’d seen it like you did, without knowing what it was for; that
would have made it so much more fun!
I first found out about Cars from the theatrical trailer run with The
Incredibles; nothing all that interesting about that. I don’t even remember what my initial reaction was,
except that I thought that I recognized the music but, not being the Pixar fan then that I am today, couldn’t
quite place it. I’m actually surprised that I recognized the music at all back then…
I’m glad someone else saw it at least, I thought it was really cool!
and being the
weirdo that I am I went screaming through the house yelling to my family “Did you just see that!?!?”

the 1st time i ever heard about
Cars waz when my Cousin was watching the incredibles, and then he sad larry the cable guy plays as a tow truck in
a new movie coming out next year! And then, i watched the tralier
( or was it the teaser?) And that is when i
met Mr. Lightning McQueen!
The first time I heard about
Cars was in 2004, when I was watching Entertainment Tonight, waiting for the
Revenge of the Sith teaser trailer to be shown (you can tell by my screen name that
I’m a Star Wars nut
). At the time, although I’ve seen every single Pixar
movie, I didn’t actually know that all these great movies that I’ve seen were made by the same company. Once I
finally came to such a realization (thanks to Wikipedia
), my excitement level for
Cars immediately went up. Of course, the follow-through is more important than the
excitement. And did Cars follow through with my expectations? It sure did - BIG
time.
Now, I have really high expectations for Ratatouille. I really hope
it’ll be great, just as every other Pixar film has been.
I found out when I saw the Incredibles in theaters.
Channel 4
was doing a documentary about the Incredibles, and showed the teaser trailer in the middle of
it.
Incidentally, the same thing happened with Cars and Ratatouille, although I already knew about
Ratatouille through Wikipedia.

The first time I saw a trailer for Cars – which was the teaser trailer, to be
exact – was on The Incredibles dvd. Unexpectedly, I wasn’t as "pumped
up" by this Pixar trailer than I usually was – it was as if I knew that I wouldn’t like this film more
than any of Pixar’s other productions. Low and behold, I was right, although it’s still a great film overall.
Sometimes I can tell how a movie will do by judging its teasers/trailers.
I also happened to see that
trailer, Life isa Highway. Although I only saw it on The
Incredibles dvd, it still got my attention. I thought it was the most brilliant idea for making a
movie trailer about cars.
Ohh…you just watch. It’ll be a blast.
Nice to meet another
Star Wars fan, by the way.
I saw it on The
Incredibles DVD as well, and got really excited when they started putting up massive posters in the local cinema.

lizardgirl - Did you cheer
whenever they showed the Cars trailer in theaters? I know I did. I do it whenever
the Ratatouille teaser is played along with a film in cinemas, too.
Yep! God, my friends get embarrassed when I start to do my ‘Happy Dance’…

lizardgirl - Haha – that’s hilarious! People also stare at me when I start to
clap and cheer whenever the Ratatouille trailer comes on. They think that I’m an
absolute nut-case.
(snigger)
Heheh – I’ll get back on-topic now.
(One more quick OT post, lol.) When I went to the
cinema last, it was really packed and therefore I ended up actually having to sit next to someone (gasp), in
this case, a twenty odd year old guy, who was probably a student. When they showed the trailer for Ratatouille,
of course, I was overjoyed, and it seems that the guy next to me was also- he started rabbitting to his
girlfriend (or friend) sitting next to him about all the important people at Pixar, and Pixar traditions such as
Ratzenburger playing a character in every film, and so on. I felt proud to be sitting next to a fellow Pixar fan.

And now, on topic…

lizardgirl - No way – you’re kidding? There was actually a fellow Pixar fan
sitting next to you in the theater? Awesome! I’m so jealous…
Yes…back on-topic now. (snigger)
You know what? I might just take back what I said about seeing the Cars
trailer (for the first time) along with The Incredibles dvd. I may have seen it
first-hand on the Disney Channel, as well. I usually only watch that station when a new Pixar film is on the
horizon, because I know that they will show trailers for it.
Well…Cars was one of them…a few months back.
I continued to
watch it over again when I got TI on DVD. I thought it was okay. I enjoyed the music in the boackground.
Michael Wallis, who
portrays the Sheriff of Radiator Springs in the film, is a big Route 66 fan like me and lives in the same city as
I do.
He’s been telling us about Pixar making a film about racecars on Route 66 since 2000. (Back then,
it was tentatively titled “Route 66.”) He’s regaled us with a lot of stories leading Pixar’s trip
down Route 66.
Needless to say, we’d been looking forward to seeing that film for a long time.
