Flare's Rant

I more or less act like my usual self on these forums, nerdy (but among similar company, so it works out differently here), defensive, trying my best to nurture positive relationships, and defending ones that start to take a dive, be it my own or a friend’s. I occasionally go to far and overstay my welcome in a debate as a result, and people can tend to take it the wrong way, causing more trouble than there was initially. Nevertheless, I try very hard to make new friends, and I usually end up with rather dysfunctional, but often very great and loving friends, however few and far between they may be. The trick is to value those friends higher than you value the things that get you down.

On the other hand, the general public views me as a weirdo, and I find it hard to relate on any level with most of them. I still continue to act my usual self though, because if I can’t be myself, there’s no reason to be, I am who I am, and I enjoy being who I am. I take pride in being fun, in rather unorthodox ways, makes me feel unique. Conforming to the general populous is too artificial for my taste, and I usually end up feeling like I’ll turn into a giant jerk if I did.

The point I’m making here Dragon is that there’s absolutely no problem with acting like yourself. So long as your big personality traits aren’t killing, maiming, and insulting random people, I’m all for whatever makes you, you. Bring it on.

However, I do think you should kinda tone things down a bit. Whenever I enter dangerous waters, I try my best to make amends as soon as possible, make sure that they’re not getting the wrong impression. Not trying to tell you how to post or anything, I’m just giving an example of what I’d do in that situation. If it’s not your style, so be it.

I’ve really been enjoying your company on here the last few weeks. I do have to support TDIT’s point about trying a bit more to interact with different areas of the site. Don’t go off and try to find things you don’t want to talk about and force yourself to post anything or do any fan material you don’t want to, but just kinda explore, poke your head in and out of some topics. I understand you may already do such things, and I’m kinda being cheesy about this, but it could help you kind of get to know how everyone works on here, get to know some of the members. Just an idea. Good or bad, it’s up to you.

I wish you the best of luck on here, and at home. It’s great to have you as a friend on here, and I’d really like to see you thrive on the boards. Just try to keep it cool when someone irks you.
