I wasn’t sure
where to put this, but there’s a Pixar reference, so I reckoned here would be fine.
Ever noticed how
sometimes your interests can lead you full circle? That happened to me, like so:
I loved the first two
series of Thomas the Tank Engine.
These series were narrated by Ringo Starr (The UK version)
As a result, I
got into Beatles music.
As a result, I watched “Yellow Submarine”.
As a result, I really got into
animation.
As a result, I excitedly watched Toy Story, as it was a pioneering form of animation.
As a
result, I got into Pixar.
As a result, I watched Cars.
Cars has Fillmore, played by George
Carlin:
George Carlin narrated the first two US series of Thomas the Tank Engine!
How weird is that?
It’s like some cosmic loop.
Entertainment
tends to do that . . . mainly because so many actors tend to play roles in many genres. I myself can trace the
actors of one favorite show of mine to another favorite show or movie (and with such great voice actors as Jeff
Bennet, Kath Soucie, etc it really isn’t that hard!)
Yeah, it is weird…Without Randall, I never would’ve discovered the amazing
Steve Buscemi, who in turn has led me to so many other films and even to a new genre of music!
Not exactly full circle
but because of the Cars soundtrack with Brad Paisley doing 2 songs, I have got into Brad and he is now probably
my favourite country music singer. Just branching off into new artists.
Once again, not exactly full
circle, but being a fan of Pixar has led me to become a fan of many other things and people.
Jason Lee
would be the best example. Before The Incredibles came along, I didn’t know he existed. I saw him in an
interview on the Disney Channel about voicing Syndrome and recognized him from Dreamcatcher, which I had recently
seen. I looked him up online and starting watching all his other movies. He is now one of my favorite actors.
And…from watching his hit show My Name Is Earl, I’ve become a serious believer of
karma.

Another crazy circle I’ve just realized!
As a child, I watched
Laputa, directed by Hayao Miyazaki. Not the Disney
version with Mark Hamill, but another version which was independantly dubbed in the 1980’s. Then I got into
Pixar and John Lasseter, who happens to be a friend of Miyazaki! Fate’s weird like that.
You can have
your Spirited Away. Laputa (or ‘Castle in the Sky’) is my favourite Miyazaki. And that 80’s dub was better
than Disney’s version, too.

Haha! That’s awesome. Some of that reminds me a little of, well, me! It’s
like playing that game “6 Degrees of whomever”
