(I’m in the Disney Movie Club thing and every month I get a book with tons of Disney movies in it and there’s a lot of special deals and what not…and with that also comes with which movies are going into the vault next…those being The Little Mermaid, Peter Pan, and Toy Story 1 and 2. So…That’s what I scanned… The page with the Toy Story info on it. )
If they didn’t put them in the vault, then people might simply go out and rent (or buy) TS and TS2 on DVD rather than going and seeing them in the cinema in 3D. A pretty smart move on Disney’s part. I didn’t think Pixar movies would go in the vault, either… I’ve already got my copies, but for some reason that marketing tactic annoys me.
Maybe after Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are finished being in the theaters in 3-D, Disney will bring them back on DVD. Who knows? Maybe there will be a new
3-D version of the movie(s) on the DVD. Only time will tell.
So putting them ‘in the vault’ basically means to stop selling them on DVD? I guess that does make sense because of the 3D releases, and as bright dot-dasher said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were re-released on DVD to get even more money.
I understand why the decision was made, like people have already said, who would watch Toy Story in the theatres, if it’s available to rent? I think the 3D “gimmick” will get enough people to get Toy Story to break the 200 million mark in overall gross, I for one can’t wait and can already imagine it because of my ViewMaster.
I am aware of a few Pixar movies going into the vault and coming back out, for example, the previous DVD releases of Toy Story, A Bug’s Life and Toy Story 2 that were replaced by the new 2-disc special editions. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2-disc DVD releases of Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemowere next to go in the vault to be replaced by ther Blu-ray editions in the next few years. Shockers- Thanks for the date, but if you don’t mind me asking, where exactly did you find that info?
If TS3 is going to be the last TS movies, then obviously there will be a trilogy box set released. I bet the films will come re-released and this its going to be in Blu-Ray or a DVD 3D version, including the 3D glasses in the DVD case.
Anyways I need to get my copies fast, before the’re gone forever…
I have a disney movie club thing…and a little book gets sent to me every month with exclusive deals and what not. and above the toy story movies it says Disappearing January 31, 2009.
I’ll put a link in my first post that leads to a larger version of the picture since that’s kinda hard to read.
Well, I’m hoping this leads to a Blu-ray release alongside Toy Story 3. And while I’m partaking of wishful thinking, a Blu release of the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and/or DVD sets around the sequel’s release as a quick cash grab by the Mouse would be lovely.
