Giacchino Set to Score Cars 2

Exactly what I think! But I’m really excited. I think that he’ll do a great job. For some reason, I have this feeling that with a change of composers, the movie will have a different feel. Giacchino’s Pixar film scores have always seemed really emotional to me. Maybe Cars 2 is going to have a lot of that? I hope it does. I better cry at this movie or I’ll be upset!

Giacchino can come up with anything, from an epic score of The Incredibles the the sweet, sad score of Up. He’ll be able to do Cars 2.

I hope so, I love his music when it’s emotional! If the movie’s more emotional than TS3, I’ll cry. I’m sure of it.

^ Did you cry at Toy Story? I was a mess. I almost started hyperventilating (wow, I just spelled that waay wrong ). I loved it. If it’s any more emotional than that, I think I might actually start sobbing in the theater.

No, I was tearing up like crazy though when [spoil]Woody started saying good-bye to the others[/spoil] and then I just got worse and worse and I was about to lose it when the movie ended. :stuck_out_tongue:

^ happy sigh They are geniuses over there  I have no doubts that Cars 2 will be absoluely brilliant. They’re going to shock the world by how good it is. And we can all sit back and laugh at everyone who doubted them

Yes! Cars 2 sounds wonderful, even though we don’t really know anything about the plot. But I don’t care. I have no doubt this will be an amazing movie!
Yeah, I had to laugh at myself after watching TS3. Not this time, though. This time I won’t doubt them at all!

That’s a hard question. I’ll have to say Up, followed by Ratatouille. Partly Cloudy was really nice too!

Well, Up is the best, and gets stuck in my head all the time. But you know which one I “like” best… :sunglasses:

Michael Giacchino wins. Period.

I think Up and Day & Night were the best.

This is certainly a turn up for the books! Though I did enjoy Randy Newman’s flavour in the original, as Cars 2 sounds like it’s going to be a bit more worldly, Giacchino is a very good choice of composer.

Well if you really want to hear what Giacchino Cars2 score might sound like just listen to the score for the Speed Racer movie. Since Giacchino is doing the score for Cars2 do you think that there will be an Cars Credits track? Like The Incredits for the Incredibles, End Creditouilles for Ratatouille and Up With End Credits for Up?

Yeah, Giachinno likes to reference his previous tracks.

For instance, there’s 100 Mile Dash, 100 Rat Dash and Three Dog Dash.

So, yes, I think there will be a long credits track. Hopefully, with Giacchino on board, there won’t be any song :shake:

Yeah, overload of pop songs= fail.

Oh, my. I thought I was the only one who believed that.

For me, it i one of the reasons Cars feels less like a Pixar film than the others.

It screams of Shrek to me, but I still love it. Granted, I like Shrek okay.

I liked Cars soundtrack because the songs they choose had a right feel for the scene. I also loved “sh-Boom” and “Route 66” that kind of 50s style to it, I adored that.

I saw Megamind this week, it was pretty good, but the songs they choose were just mehhh, did not fit well! So I think Cars is one of the better ones. But for that reason it does stand out from the other Pixar movies, but it worked.

The pop songs Cars used seemed to aid the atmosphere, at least. And they weren’t overplayed songs we’ve all heard a million times. The less the better, but I just felt like pointing that out.

I think Cars hit the perfect blend between use of original instrumentals and existing pop songs. The choices of songs really suit the mood (‘Real Gone’ for the opening race, ‘Sh-Boom’ for the nostalgic cruise, etc.) and it was a nice 50/50 blend. It’s not like it was instrumentals all the way and then they suddenly threw in a pop song (like Legend of the Guardians) or pop-songs by popular artistes with occasional instrumentals (like the Shrek series).

I’m very curious if Cars 2 is going to be a similar ‘50/50’ mix or if Giachinno’s score will be the majority of the soundtrack.

I hope we get a CD.

^ Yes!! This digital stuff is out of my league.

Guys, last night’s Mad episode(I watched it…on TV!!) had a Cars reference. “Rice-Shreks, Cloudy with a Chance of Flavor, and Carshmellows.”
