The other day the 66th Annual Golden Globes were on TV. I was pretty happy for WALL-E winning Best Animated, but I can’t beleive “Down to Earth” didn’t win. Oh well. Anyway, I accepted most of the other awards, except the 30 Rock stuff. I hate that show. If any of you want to share how you reacted to the winners, post them here.
I was generally happy with the nominees and the winners. Especially with WALL-E winning Best Animated.
Yeah, I’d say most of the film award winners for the Golden Globes were deserving. I’m pleased Kate Winslet has finally won something, and I certainly agree with WALL-E winning Best Animated Picture. Looking at how many awards Slumdog Millionaire has won, I really want to go and see it now!
I was kinda rooting Wall-E would sweep both Best Animated and Best Original Song, and while I was glad that it got B.A. , I was disappointed that its “Down to Earth” nor Bolt “I Thought I Lost You” (both of which I thought were waaay more upbeat than the other three, but probably too ‘pop-pish’ for snooty critics) lost out to The Wrestler. I may be jumping to conclusions to the other songs, as I have not watched them in the context of their movies, but their previews don’t enamour me much.
Loved the clips used, Eve’s flight over the canyon and the popping of the bubble wrap, Bolt’s photos with Penny and his sticking his head out the train window, and KFP’s predictable (they used the “dummy that punched back” sequence sooo many times in trailers!) but fun " Bear-style" scene.
I recorded both segments from my TV and posted it on my YT Channel (under the My Videos section), so anyone who missed out can watch if they’re interested (On a side note, check out my sighting of the Prime Minister of Singapore while you’re at it. )
Of course I’m happy that WALL-E took the Best Animated Film award (didn’t seem to be too much of a competition, though )
I’m really glad Slumdog Millionaire won as well - I feel like it’s a “Love It or Hate It” movie (well, I just realized that there are some people out there who actually hate it) but I think that it most definitely deserved the award for Best Film. And I’m happy for Mickey Rourke to win - he was pretty amazing in the Wrestler (although, I root for Leonardo DiCaprio by default, lol - I haven’t seen Revolutionary Road). I guess Bruce Springsteen trumps all, ey?
I am happy that WALL•E won, and even though I love Down to Earth, I am happy that it didn’t win. The song from The Wrestler, is in my opinion one of the best film songs I have ever heard, and by far my favorite song this year. I am also glad that Mickey Rourke won for The Wrestler, and that Slumdog Millionaire won top prize.
Heath Ledger’s win was another great moment, as it is nice to see his brilliant work being recognized. All in all, I am very happy with who and what won in the film categories. As for the TV categories, I don’t really watch much TV.
30 Rock all the way man!
