Grasshoppers

Just a little thing, but I just watched ABL again, and I just thought- how come there aren’t any female

grasshoppers in Hopper’s gang? Or, saying that, anywhere throughout the entire film?

That?s a good question LG probably because

no girl grasshopper would be that dumb enough to join there gang. :stuck_out_tongue:

Lol, I guess. I just figured that at least one girl

grasshopper would find Hopper attractive!

LG: Not really

Sorry to be a stereotype, but to keep the manly macho image of them up. :sunglasses:

Manly image? To me, Molt looks

goofy, and Thumper is possesed.

If I was a grasshopper, I’d find him attractive! :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s

never something I thought about, but to be honest, I can’t picture female grasshoppers in that movie.

You know what I mean Swordsman.

The fact of the

matter is, putting a girl in their kind of ruines that whole tough guy image of

them, even if some are dopey.

Unless you can place a really tough girl in the mix.

Hopper’s gang is very similar to a biker gang, especially with the way they

“start up” their wings before they take flight. They’re a bunch of tough, ignorant jerks that no

female grasshopper would want to be any part of…although Hopper is

intriguing.

Slightly off-topic, I like how Pixar didn’t choose to use a cliche insect villain, such as a

spider. And in Finding Nemo, they didn’t make Bruce the villain. I mean, he had a moment of rage, but he was a

nice shark for a change.

~~=oP

PV- Yeah, and they actually made the spider in ABL, Rosie, really sweet and caring!

Kind of ironic, but very Pixar-like, going against stereotypes.

Yeah, I like the point you make PV. That is very true.

I do not know about any of you, but I myself think Hopper is pretty attractive. Seriously,

he’s pretty cute, when you think about it.

I agree- guys with short tempers are hot. And his

voice is pretty nice, too.

Against Stereotypes? I doubt it. In the Incredibles, there are plenty of

stereotyping. The family members are perfect examples. But then again, Brad Bird did that to "mirror their

station in life."

Those are more archetypes than stereotypes.

TSS: And anyway, the

superhero genre is very different to the bug genre. It’s kind of difficult not to go with what has happened

before concerning superheroes, especially since Pixar admitted to using lots and lots of references for The

Incredibles. When it comes to misconceptions of animals, on the other hand, then Pixar are usually quick to

change things around, so if there is a bad guy, it’s not someone that you’d expect to be a bad guy.

Why aren’t there any female grasshoppers in Hopper’s gang? Well, that is a very good question. My best guess is that he doesn’t like females, for some reason. Then again, he does love his mommy.
