I searched everywhere to make sure there wasn’t already a thread on this, and I think I’m safe.
Oh, and if this is better suited in the Off-Topic forum, could a mod please move it there? Thank you!
Okay, so just a random question for you guys: What will you be dressing up as on Halloween? I have never been a regular trick-or-treater, but last year a friend from church opened up his food pantry for trick-or-treaters to come in, and my family got to dress up and everything even though we didn’t go trick-or-treating. Hopefully, he’ll be doing it this year too, 'cuz it was a LOT of fun.
Another question: What will you be doing for Halloween besides trick-or-treating? Hanging out with family? Halloween party? Me and my sister do the inverse of trick-or-treating and go “trick-or-treater-hunting” and try to list as many trick-or-treaters as we can find. It’s actually a lot of fun! And we always wait an entire year to watch Holes, only on Halloween. Don’t ask. It’s our special thing.
I’m going as my own character, haha. Actually, it’s my human interpretation of VN-GO - Vin Deamer - who’s a painter. I’m so excited. I’m going to totally ruin a plain t-shirt of mine by splatting it with paint. My sister found a 60’s go-go-girl-type costume that she’ll be wearing, and I’m trying to convince my two brothers to go as Mario and Luigi.
Great topic! I don’t know what to be, I was a classic ghost with a sheet over my head last year, and it was awesome! You’ll be surprised how many people are surprised to see you be a ghost for Halloween. It’s hilarious! anyway, I’ll probably be a shower like in Karate Kid, of a table with spaghetti and meatballs with my head sticking out.
I’m going as Russell, all the way! Been planning this for a while, but haven’t done much to make the costume itself, I need to get the ball rolling!
I’ll probably be working at Sonic that night, everyone that works there is pretty much required to, but we’re also required to wear our costumes, which is pretty sweet. I’d much rather go trick or treating, I haven’t done that in too long, and I really hope I don’t ruin my costume at work. :\
Trick or treating doesn’t really happen over here, so I’ve never actually been. Though I do remember last year being caught by surprise by two kids who rang the doorbell and said ‘trick or treat’, but we didn’t have any sweets for them or anything so ended up giving them these health bars. They didn’t look very impressed.
I don’t think any of my friends are having a Hallowe’en party, but I quite fancy having one myself. It’ll be just before I go away to Thailand too so it might be a good leaving party or something as well. Hmm…strokes beard
I might be doing one of three things: Trick-or-trating, volunteering at a Halloween Carnival at my church, or hang out at the mall with my friends. Eitherway, I’m going to dress up as Mr. Incredible again.
I will be going trick-or-treating. And the way my school works, we get to wear our costumes to school! I went to Toys ‘R’ Us during vacation, and I found like the perfect costume! It was a blue Cars racecar driver outfit! Only problem, it’s for kids, not 14 year old girls. Well, unless I can find another racecar driver costume, I’m gonna try to dress up in some sort of 50’s costume. Mainly to celebrate the era from which Doc is from. XD
The outside fo the house will be decorated as The Peanuts Pumpkin Patch, with the shot down dog house, Linus and Snoopy and plenty of pumpkins out front. On the porch, we will have our life size Sully and Mike on display, which is always a hit. Last year we took them to our daughters school Halloween party so kids could get pictures standing with Sulley and Mike. Over three hundred shots with the kids by the school along with many more from parents doing their own pictures.
I will be escorting my daughter around with another friend in a full Ghostbusters costume with full effect proton pack. My daughter is still undecided on her costume yet.
Wow, those are your Sulley and Mike models? They’re amazing! No wonder the kids loved getting their pictures with them! Where did you get them from? Very cool, tripoli.
Yes, Toys R Us made them for display years ago and then many were given away or auctioned off by the stores. I managed to pick up a set. The Sully was badly damaged, we had to rebuild the entire interior struts that hold him together. Usually it is hard to find the Mike figure intact as the eye tends to be damaged. It was a bear making sure the smaller kids did not try to give Mike a black eye during the photo shoots at school that evening. lol
Both the Sully and Mike figures like these are on display on the Pixar campus. I love that I have Mike looking over my shoulder in my den, along with quite a bit of other Pixar memorabilia.
Woah! That looks really great, tripoli! Great job on fixing up the Sulley one, too!
As for me,…I don’t think I’m gonna be trick or treating this year… If I was gonna, I would be going as either Mario, Chucky, or the Joker (again ) But I don’t think I’m that prepared to do something like that. I’ll either be hanging out with my friends, going to see a movie in theaters (either Where The Wild Things Are or Paranormal Activity), or stay home and watch a horror film (dunno which one yet).
My friends did say about a year ago that we were all gonna dress up as the Mario crew, but I don’t think we’re doing that! I might have to ask them about that…
Well, what am I doing on halloween? I’m still not 100% sure. My dad’s either taking me to some sort of christian alternative for halloween at a church, but I got invited to a halloween party that I really want to go to. Here’s the catch though. Everybody’s dressing up as the opposite gender, so yeah. If I end up going to that, then I’ll be dressing up as a girl for halloween.
hmm. as of right now, I’ll be donning my Jack Sparrow costume (which strangely still fits me) but I have had my eye on a certain woody costume… we’ll see .
mo: Haha, I’d feel a bit awkward at a party like that, lol. Our church used to do a halloween alternative thing too years and years ago, and why they stopped doing it is beyond me. I loved it! When me and my sibs were little, my parents dressed us up as animals and had stuffies of the same animals attached to us, and we were “Noah’s ark” animals; going two-by-two!
That’s why I’m thankful for the whole open house thing at the food pantry. I really hope it happens again this year. If not, me and my sis are going to drive around town and go out to eat and stuff in our getup.
I want to go trick or treating with friends someday, but for now, I usually go to a Halloween (inverse) party at church. We dress up, play games, win candy, and sometimes have skits. I usually dress up as a bat (not a vampire), and since that’s the only costume I’ve got ready, I’d probably do the same this year, too.
But I hope to someday dress up as a ghost- not just a sheet over my head but something more…hmmm…spirit-ish. I want to appear more like I still have a human figure, just look paler and everything. I want it to be something ghost of Christmas past style, from A Christmas Carol, so it can be like a Nightmare Before Christmas.
I also plan to hand out candy either before or afterwards. Before/after opening the door, I may imitate some eerie noises like the howling of a wolf or screeching of a bat or yowling of a cat, to add some fun to it. I scare my sister with those noises even when she knows it’s me.
I don’t really understand why some Christians oppose Halloween so strongly. My own church kinda does, too. shrug. I mean, what about All Saint’s Day? I’m a Christian but no matter what my church keeps saying every year, I just can’t see how enjoying a little candy, dressing-up for fun, and enjoying creepiness every once in a while could be so bad. It’s not like all trick-or-treaters threaten people for candy! I certainly wouldn’t.
Well, at this point, I’m still not sure what we’ll be doing for Halloween. I’d like to have a party, but we can’t for several reasons: (1.) We don’t have the money or the time, (2.) a lot of my friends don’t keep in contact anymore, and the one that does, her family doesn’t “do” Halloween. We might be going to Sea World. They have something going on over there for Halloween, plus then I can ride the new roller coaster, Manta.
As for costumes, I’ve actually got two-- one Micheal Jackson which basically consists of a black pinstripe suit, fedora, and possibly temporary black hair dye, that was my original plan; and my Violet suit, which is partially finished and the rest I’m going to have to throw together from things I can find around the house. I’m kinda leaning towards Violet. I don’t know. What do you guys think?
Halloween is not really celebrated in Singapore and Malaysia, and to a lesser extent in Australia. And originally it was suppose to be a Pagan festival or something to honour the dead, but much like Valentine and Christmas has been turned into a corporate exercise for tie-in merchandise and the gift-card industry. Still, I don’t mind getting into the spirit!
I can’t wait for the 31st, if I’m not mistaken, it’ll be on the last day of my assessments, then I can partaaay!
I have plans for a Pixar Halloween MV for TSS’ contest, but I’m not sure if I can finish it in time with all the deadlines looming…
I also want to watch a scary movie at the theatres, I haven’t been to the movies in weeks and I’m already suffering withdrawal symptoms… well, not really. But I’d love to. The Final Destination is now playing in gut-splattering 3-D, and the torture begins in Saw VI (When will Jigsaw ever die? ) next week!
