Happy Feet: good as it seems :) or do you think it sucks :P

Haha – that’s

funny: I rhymed something and didn’t even know it.

Haha – oh,

that’s perfectly alright. Disagree away! I don’t mind one bit. We all have our own unique views and opinions on

things…

Alright, so I admit it: The environment factor did kind of get

rather pushy at times, but the funny thing was that – unlike most other people – I never even noticed it until

near the end of the film. My attention was mainly focused on Mumble and his “tap-dancing dilema” than

on the fish crisis.

The only thing that rather annoyed me was that… Oh wait. There was nothing that

annoyed me. :stuck_out_tongue: (snigger)

I agree with you Bill, it was odd, at 1st I thought they were animated but I got to

looking at them, they were real, I really found that kinda strange.

My friends loved Happy Feet hav no

idea why prob because of the cuteness and the fuzzy penguins.

This question has nothin’ 2 do about if the

films was good or not.
How come Mumble was ‘fuzzy’ and the other penguins about his age looked liked regular

adult penguins with the black fur and the white bellies, but Mumble, was white and grey, with no black feathers.

seems odd doesn’t it?

CarFreak - I always compared Mumble’s apparent “fuzziness” to his

personality. The very fact that he hadn’t fully developed yet (physically) portrayed that he was rather

different from his fellow clan in several ways.

The same goes for Remy in

Ratatouille – so far, Remy is the only blue rat that you see in the film,

indicating his unique personality and life-style.

However, as much as I liked Mumble’s fuzzy

feathers, I never did care for the bow-shaped pattern near his neck. :stuck_out_tongue:

Im in the

same bucket as Fairly Odd New Yorker. . . i have happy feet but just cant get the time (or inclination) to watch

it

I actually thought it was quite good. It is a bit long though, and I felt it was more of an adult’s film than a kid’s film. I liked the music a lot. =) I would have been happy for either Happy Feet or Cars to have won the Oscar because they both deserved it.

Happy Feet just wasn’t as moving as I see in other movies, I mean, why hate it just cuz it beat one of pixar’s

movies, cuz that’s just…crazy… I for one was a little freaked out when they sing, I dunno why. I kinda liked

the Boogie wonderland song though! Trust me I watched it on YouTube like…5 times. My friends really seem to

like it, and almost everyone does, but then I say “i don’t like it that much.” They think I’m drugs

or something, usually keep my mouth shut because so many people like it! I don’t really love it. but let’s just

put it like this: it wasn’t my favorite of movies.

I said this once, and I’ll say it again:

I DON’T LIKE HAPPY FEET IT WASN’T BECAUSE IT BEAT CARS IN AWARDS

God…I

sound like those critics who write about how bad movies are…heh.

Okay, so I finally got around to seeing it, here be my

run down.

the Good : Beautiful animation, those penguin chicks are so cute! and I love

how they incorporate those songs into the movie, I love “Jukebox” musicals. The dance sequences

are so much fun, I find myself watching them over and over again on youtube. The story of Mumble (and I

make a very big point when I label the story “Mumble” ) was very touching and sweet.

The Bad : waaay to preachy man. You know, it’s funny, but Finding Nemo had the same "fish in the

net" scene, only from the perspective of the fish. It was an exhilerating moment, when Nemo and the

other fish were pushing at the net, it was very powerful and you felt bad about the fish, but in Happy

Feet’s “Fish in the Net” scene, it came off more like a clip from a PETA documentary then a

dramatic moment in a movie.

The whole ending seemed very forced .

However, my biggest peeve with the movie was how they portrayed the aquarium. I worked at an aquarium for many

years, (took care of the babies) and let me tell you, those people are dedicated animal saviors! they had a

rehabilitation center for seals and other pinapeds, and we treated the creatures with respect. But in the

movie, they made the aquarium look like an evil purgatory for animals. Even the aquarium in Finding Nemo was

shown as not an evil place on it’s own it was just an obstical because Nemo

was trying to get back to his dad.

All in all, the movie would of been a lot better if they

would have stuck with Mumble’s story, the story of a Penguin that has a

talent that everyone looks down on. The music was amazing, and I wish it was more of a musical, it could’ve

been a Moulin Rouge with penguins! (ha!). But, the inclusion of the humans took away from Mumble’s story,

and it became more of a “Save the Penguins!” movie. Plus, with the misrepresentation of the

aquarium, and the ending which was way to fast, well, this movie gets a C plus.

To tell you the truth…

I thought it was

boring… :-\

This is a

question to those who watched both happy Feet and Surfs up. Which penguins did you all think were cuter?

The Star Swordsman - Surf’s Up, hands down. I love

Happy Feet, but Surf’s Up has

style.

But I suppose I shouldn’t go too off-topic…

Ohh yeah, that

other penguin movie. Why have penguins become so popular in Hollywood? Why not

giraffes, huh? WHAT ABOUT THE GIRAFFES!?!?

Or maybe Armadillos…

I think the Happy Feet penguins were much more adorable

than the ones I have seen in Surf’s Up.

Giraffes. funny. somehow, I can’t see that happening. I guess people find penguins more adorable than other

animals. and there has been a lot of movies that include lions eh? (The lion king, The Wild, Madagascar,

etc,.)

I haven’t seen Surf’s up, yet. I’m interested in seeing it though. All I can say is: Surfing

Penguins!? kinda, unoriginal I mean, hey, I aint got a prob. with penguin movies. Looks interesting have to see

eh?

I remember a moive about real Penguins (in other words: not animated.

 ) It was called, March of the Penguins I think, can’t remember. But

JesusFreak Has a point. WHY so many penguin movies?

Yea, I think the Happy

Feet penguins were cuter than the Surf’s up ones. Not that their ugly!

It’s been a while since I watched Happy Feet, but I

thought the film was good.

Positives: The animation was excellent (but I

actually wasn’t aware that MoCap was used, before today), I liked the story and message: don’t be ashamed of

who you are and try to keep positive people around you, respect the environment, the music was

awesome.

Negatives: For a movie that was marketed as a children’s film, I

felt it went a bit too long, it could have easily run for 20 mins less. And I didn’t think it was a children’s

film as much as an adult’s film - the themes and metaphors would go over children’s heads, and the parts that

they would like, wouldn’t be enough to entertain them for the whole duration.

I would probably have to

watch both Cars and Happy Feet again to see which one deserved the Academy Award. I wasn’t that really into

Cars, but I thought it was a good movie, just not one of Pixar’s top five best movies. I can’t say why Happy

Feet won the award, maybe it was because of the “green” message, but that is the trend of the moment

(and rightly so),but if it won because of that, then that is a stupid reason for it win.

Maybe the

Academy Award wanted to send a message to Pixar that they may not be a shoe-in every year? Who knows. All I can

say is I enjoyed Happy Feet more than Cars, and as a Pixar fan it pains me to say it, but that’s the

truth.

But as I say, the real test will be is which movie will last the longest. Like in 20 years time I

may watch both again and like Cars more, because the message hasn’t aged…

Am I the only one who really does not like this movie? Probably the worst

computer animated movie to date. Don’t get me even started about this film.

Worse than Shark Tale, Hoodwinked, and

Shrek 3? ;-p

Or

Happily N’ever After and Doogal(which itself was more of a cheap Americanization of a British film)

that’s because Hollywood is trying to be “Green”

right now. Penguins are the unofficial representitive of the “Green” trend, because they live in

the Antarctic that is “melting”.

Every decade or so Hollywood gets into a new

trend, and every decade they pick a new patron saint of their cause. Who knows, maybe in a couple of years

they might be warning us about Global Cooling, and Camels will be the “in” animal.

Googly-Bear - Haha – that’s funny. You have a point, though!

indeed I do. I hope they decide to save the bamboo,

because I love Pandas, and they need to get popular.
