My family and I are planning our next trip to Disney World!
Researching a few things about the vacation, I realized that we had never been to The Magic of Disney Animation in Hollywood Studios.
As I was reading through a little description, I came across this:
With my newfound interest in storyboarding for Pixar, I thought it would be neat to learn about shading and shapes and things like that.
My question is, do you need tickets for the class? It doesn’t say anything on the original Disney site, nor the other one I visited (wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/m … mation.htm)
Thank you so much in advance
(To the mods: sorry if this is in the wrong section, I just joined today )
no tickets needed and there isnt normally too much of a que either. Its worth doing though, the last time i went they showed us how to draw mushu from mulan
Judging by those clips it has changed since I last went, we didn’t sit at desks and all have individual drawing equipment. It was more of a ‘this is how you do it, try it when you get home’ sort of thing
We all did the drawing class in Disneyland. It was really fun, and our renderings of Dopey really did look like him. Worth stopping into that section in DW.
I went in there back in 1997 when it was still a working animation studio for Disney’s 2D films. Ironically they were still working on Mulan in that very building when I was there, which was the very first Disney feature made completely in Florida. I get confused by the park’s name now since it used to be called Disney-MGM Studios.
I went to MGM in 1999 or 2000. I can’t remember much but I know I was fascinated seeing the real life version of Pizza Planet. I also took a picture with Buzz and the Green Army Man. I was pissed I didn’t see Woody.
I am not 100% sure why it changed but I assume it was the deal with MGM came to an end, I was out there when it changed and it was very odd. One day it said MGM and quite literally over night it change to say Disney Hollywood Studios
When I was in Disneyland just this month, I was able to get to draw Mickey in the Animation Academy. It was really fun, but it just re-enforced that I’m a crappy drawer.
