Nice Remy/Emile vignette, Haunt! I wonder why I didn’t discover this thread earlier, I love your art style (which itself is so wide and varied, there’s B&W sketches, Photoshop vectors, and pre-vis animation!
Here are some I like:
Confused Remy, dated 15 July 2007 - I love the expression!
Ambivalent Remy and Linguini, 7 August 07 - Cooler than a glass of chilled martini!
Spaceman Emile and Eve, July 14 2008 - Random, but cute!
Stitch and Eve, my personal favourite (July 15 2008) - My personal favourite, I love the guidelines and shading!
I like your sense of self-depreciating humour, you should really consider yourself as a very talented artist! Looking forward to more awesomeness from ya.
Ok, so I feel like a big tool. I posted in my other art thread last night about the hordes of artwork I was going to post tonight. Annddddd I posted zilch. I have a good reason I swear!
I got up this morning all ready to research term papers and then copyright/post artwork to various places, when my mom yells upstairs “it’s a girl”
‘It’ being the baby we’ve been waiting for my sis-in-law to have. So congrats and Huzzahs go all around. Next thing I know I’m squashed in the car and on the way to Saginaw (or The Naw as I like to call it). It’s about a 1.5 hour drive, which gave me ample time to daydream out the window and doodle Dash.
Long story short: I have 1 new niece and 0 non-pixar art posts. lol. I did manage to get one thing pretty’d up and watermarked so I’ll post that here tonight. Everything else should be up in a day or 2 (no promises ^^; )
Violet Parr, I’m blaming you for my recent case of “must-draw-Vi-itus”. On top of this one I have a half inked photoshop doodle, some younger Vi stuff and a cluster of expression drawings. All within the last two weeks.
This one has been in my sketchbook for 3 months waiting to be finished. Nothing too special. Just one of those rare moments where I pick up a prismacolor and go on a scribbly rampage. I could have probably done better, but that’s how I usually feel about older work. The original sketch was in blue pencil, which explains why she’s all blotchy and whatnot.
…and I forgot her incredi-pendent and Haunt insignia belt buckle D:
Haunt - Awesome sketch. I’m lovin’ the colors, pose, and overall theme. Great work on the anatomy as well. Heh. You should color in more of your stuff…
Congratulations to your sister-in-law, by the way!
Excellent drawing, Haunt! It’s a great pose and the anatomy is great as well. You see to have a solid grasp of the human figure. Have you taken figure drawing classes? I love the coloring and how you handled the shadows and highlights!
And congrats to your sister in law! It’s wonderful you have a little niece now!
Very amazing and impressive! I love how relaxed and calm her face looks and all the color values from light to dark make it look perfected. That’s some real fantastic artwork right there, and an example of how talented you are at drawing human figures and coloring them just right!
P.S. Congrats to your sister-in-law! What’s the name of your niece?
Mitch: Thank you much! You and all the other artists have been inspiriting me to start spending my down time (when I’m not doing school art) to do regular old ‘fun art’. I certainly need the extra practice too. Internship times a’coming.
Hannahmation: Thanks! And yup I have taken figure drawing. I took a little at MSU (good luck my beloved Spartans!) and I took a whole year of it at CCS last year. This year was a bit of a break from it, but I plan on taking Anatomy sometime next year. Probably in the fall. I can’t even begin to stress how important figure and anatomy lessons are.
The Star Swordsman: Thank you sir! I can always count on you to find joy in the Art of Violet
bright dot-dasher: Thank you so much! I vividly recall listening to The Last Goodbye. Specifically Incomplete. Something about that song makes it her song. Which is why I named one of my old pics of her ‘the butterfly’. Actually, the whole album kinda makes me want to draw her.
Oh, the girl’s name is Aurora. (Her middle name is Faith.) How awesome is that! I freaking love the name!
Ha-ha. Seriously? Well, I’m glad that we’ve all been an inspiration to you! It’s been something of a reciprocal in my case, since your (and other artists’) work is so awesome that I feel as if I’m being urged to continue practicing so that I can draw as good as you eventually. And, yeah, it’s relaxing to break away from the norm at times and just… draw for the heck of it.
Congrats Haunt! Really happy for you and your new niece. Beautiful name, by the way.
Awesome picture! I like how you drew Violet wearing headphones. It fits her, seeing as she seems to enjoy listening to music. The coloring is absolutely brilliant! I love the purple in her hair-- very sleek. The only thing is Vi’s outfit. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s adorable, but I don’t know if Violet would dress like that. She just seems so conserved and maybe even a little insecure. But, as she gets older I guess she might wear stuff like that. (But I mean no offense, what-so-ever. If I lost like five pounds I’d be wearing that! ) But I love the coat. The tie/belt flowing through the air makes it look mysterious.
And I’d like to see those other sketches you did as well. Great job Haunt!
violet parr: I forget that some of you guys are new to my version of the incredi-kids. I guess I should explain myself a bit. giant inhale
Ok so Vi and Dash (and to a lesser extent Jack Jack) go though a few random changes. Most of my pics and stories take place years after the movie. In most of my images Violet is never younger than 17, and Dash 13 or 14. By this point they’ve gotten into many adventures and even defeated Syndrome again. (I guess everyone’s got their own sequel, eh TSS ) As a result, Violet personality is more grown up and confident.
By the point that I draw them, they have joined up with several other teens, and have heavily crossed over with DC’s Teen Titans. Unfortunately the origin story of this union was never finished, and only a few chapters were posted. I do still have the core character info if you ever wanted to see it. I can also pm you the links to the chapters I actually posted.
TSS: I know right! And I should have some new artwork up here tonight or tomorrow morning.
Cool, so you’ve got a crossover fanfic sequel going on with a Syndrome “returning-from-the-dead” plotline? Sounds interesting!
I like the pose and headphone wire/belt ribbon flowing down her sides. As the others have said, you’ve a good grasp of human anatomy. The black leather jacket with the fur collar looks wicked too!
Your version of an older Violet is so cool, Haunt! Her pose gives the piece a lot of movement and I agree with everyone else about the accuracy of the proportions of her anatomy. Her hair is beautiful and flowing and I think your idea of how she would look as a teenager is appropriate in that she’s changed quite a lot, but she’s still recognisable as being Violet. Your shading is great too, though the jeans could have a little more shading and depth to them in the same way that you’ve created that effect with her awesome jacket.
And congratulations on the new niece! She has such a beautiful name!
That would be cool if you could post a link to those fanfics. I’m always up for a good Incredibles fan fiction. Again, great art work! And I hope every thing is going well with Aurora.
thedriveintheatre: Lol, I guess I made that a little confusing. Return of the Glory Days was the unwritten squeal I came up with. It was basically a practice for the main fanfic I had been gearing up for, Teen Titans: United.
RotGD was a short story about how Violet, Dash, and Harlequin (my old character from 2001) go back to Nomanisan to investigate some suspicious rumors. It ends up being a trap, but with a little luck the kids (and eventually their parents) come together and defeat Synnie once and for all.
TT:U is only partitally written. I started it back in 2005, but never finished it. Lately I’ve been getting the fanfic itch and have been considering restarting it.
I’d love to post it here, but the focus isn’t on the TI characters, though I put in a lot of refs and nods.
lizardgirl: Thanks a bunch! Glad you like it.
And yeah, me and pants have a love/hate relationship.
It’s kind of strange I know. This is a result of this song here , a little Amy Lee, and some Raconteurs. (Mainly 1, 2, 3, 4)
For some reason, I always thought that one day Vi would pick up an instrument. You know, for relieving the stress of being a teen and a student and a super. My brain works in odd ways.
And since I’m here, I might as well ask. If I were to start posting the aforementioned fanfic would you guys read it? The rub is that it’s technically a teen titans fanfic featuring (but not staring) Dash and Vi. I’d be more than willing to post explanations about the TT storyline and mythology. It’s totally up to you guys.
(Did I mention it’s oldish and super nerdy ^^; )
Awesome! A monochromatic composition! The way you draw Violet always reminds me of how you would look in real life, for some reason.
As for your fan fiction, I would love to read it, but I just don’t have the time anymore, unfortunately. I’m sure that quite a few other members here would enjoy it, though!
I agree with the others- I can totally see Violet playing the guitar! That’s a really good sketch considering how long it took you, and I like the perspective and the angle of the guitar, plus the little details, like a certain floating house in a picture in the background… Good work, Haunt!
