Yeah, it should be amazing when I go.
We are looking at December 2008 or February 2009.
Either the first two weeks of December or the first two weeks of February as they are both relativley quiet aren’t they?
I live in California from a family who are Disney fans. So Disney trips were a regular. I know Disneyland better than my own room. I’ve been around 9 or 10 times.
I’ve wanted to go to a Disney park since I was 3. It’s like my dream, right after Pixar animation studios. I wanna go so bad!!!
I’ve been to Disneyland Paris twice. Once quite soon after it had opened, and was still known as “Euro Disney”, and last October on trip to Paris with my parents. It was great - I got to ride the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, the Finding Nemo rollercoaster and Space Mountain (none of which were around on my first visit), dine at the Ratatouille-themed restaurant where they bring the animatronic Remy around while you eat, and pick up an awesome Ratatouille hat.
I did go to Disneyland, Anaheim on my family trip to the U.S. in 2005. I remember enjoying the Indiana Jones ride, the Tikki room, Splash Mountain, Soarin’ Over California, and Autopia. I also remember seeing Buzz and Woody at a Pixar parade at California Adventureland (but this was before I got interested in Pixar as Cars wasn’t out yet), and seeing Tinkerbell ziplining from the Cinderella Castle (my dad saw it before on a previous trip, and mentioned it was his most memorable memory of the park).
It truly was magical, though the lines are pretty annoyingly long (and the ‘Fastpass’ system didn’t really help). I wouldn’t mind going again.
I think I also went to Tokyo Disneyland in 2002, but I don’t remember much. Maybe I didn’t. Sorta a deja vu feeling…
I want to check out Paris and the upcoming Shanghai one next. Hong Kong has been getting mixed reviews, and doesn’t really appeal to me. My ultimate dream would be to spend a week in Disneyworld, Florida (it is the biggest entertainment resort in the world, after all) and checking out all its theme parks.
This is kind of random, but am I the only person who is slightly offended by the "welcome to Duloc"song in Shrek making fun of Disney? I mean I always get mad when DW makes fun of Disney and Pixar, but that raises my blood pressure every time I watch Shrek.
Sorry, but that’s one of my most favourite parts from Shrek when I first watched it. My sibs and I would always sing the song and giggle when it came to the
“Shine our shoes, wipe our… FACE!”
bit. We always took it tongue-in-cheek.
I’ve only been to Walt Disney Word in Orlando, FL, but I’ve gone three times. Which is a big deal seeing as how I live on the very opposite end of the East Coast, so it’s pretty far away.
We went first in September of 2001, no lie - a week after 9/11. My parents almost considered canceling our trip, but we decided to go and it actually made for a great week because there weren’t half of the usual amount of people there. I barely remember that trip, though; only highlights of it (I had just turned 9). One thing I’ll never forget is when we went to The American Adventure in Epcot, and in the pre-show they have a live quartet sing a bunch of American folk tunes, and the last song they sang was “God Bless America”. I swear, not one eye was dry in the room as that song was sung, and patriotism and overwhelming love just filled up the entire room. It was incredible. <3 We had a bunch of people whom we had never met before and from different parts of the world coming up to us and saying how sorry they were for us and the rest of our country, and it was really sweet.
The next trip was in Sept. '05, which was probably one of the best years ever. We took along two good friends of ours, one of which was the babysitter we’ve had since we were little. Those two girls are absolutely crazy, so needless to say we just had a blast. That was also the year we got to go on all the thrill rides like the Tower of Terror, Mission SPACE, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Splash Mountain. Usually we try to spend an entire week in Disney, just so we can enjoy everything it has to offer, but honestly a single week isn’t enough to completely drink it all in. You’d probably need closer to 10 days or so to fully enjoy it all.
We went again the year after, a bit earlier in the month of Sept., but it was a LOT hotter. (When we finally get to go again, we’ll probably try to shoot for sometime in November to avoid the crowds as well as the heat. I’m just gonna say right now, being homeschooled totally rules, because you can completely forgo the heavy on-season during school breaks! ) We took the same two girls with us, and it felt like the ‘sequel’ to our last trip; honestly, it felt like we picked right up from where we left off the year before and had a new adventure. If we had the finances, we’d be going every single year, but unfortunately we haven’t had the opportunity to do it since.
I love every bit of it. Everything from the rides, the food, the ambience (music plays in every little place you venture, which just adds to the Disney Magic), the entertainment (live shows and such - The Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue was so much fun!)… just everything about WDW is incredible. I anxiously await an opportunity to return, and I want to be able to take my children someday every single year as a family tradition. <3
little chef
Wow, little_chef, you’re incredibly lucky to have gone to WDW not once, but three times!
I did read somewhere that it would take you about four days to walk around WDW non-stop… I could be exaggerating, but I think I read something to that effect.
I’ve got quite a story to tell:
I went to Disney World with my mom back in December 1997 and I was only 9 at the time. We stayed in the All-Star Sports Resort while we were there, but I don’t think we ever used the pool cause the weather was bad. Anyway, one day while we were in the Magic Kingdom my mom went inside a shop to buy souvenirs and told me to wait outside. I remember asking her something like if I could go over to the castle and thought she said yes, so I wandered off looking for characters. I think after a while I went back to where my mom was but she was already gone. I asked one of the characters if they could help me and they told one of the regular park employees next to them, but I was confused and said I’d try to find her myself cause I was still in the phase where I thought the characters were real. And so I kept wandering around where she was until it finally got dark (the fireworks were even coming out). I told someone again that I was lost until they finally helped me get back to mom.
And that’s the story of how I almost got lost at Disney World. It almost happened twice actually. The second time was when my mom was going to take a picture of me from a distance and we somehow disappeared on each other again, though that was nowhere near as bad as the first time. We actually have not made another trip there since that one cause we couldn’t afford to anymore.
Flik-E, woah, that sounds scary! I actually had a similar thing happen to me at Knott’s Berry Farm. It’s always funny to hear those stories
I wouldn’t be surprised, that place is HUGE
Oh man, how have I not posted in this thread before?
I’ve been to Disneyland in SoCal too many times to count. I’ve been going there since I was a little kid, I practically grew up there
I’ve had passes several times. I don’t know the exact number, but definately 3 or more times. I remember the last time we had passes (which was when I was about 12) we used to go after school. As in, NOBODY there! Like, a 15 minute wait was considered a long line. Plus since we went in the afternoon, the heat of the day was already over and it was nice and cool.
Then last june my Dad decided to take us to Disney World Orlando (as in, my Dad, my step mom, me, my bro, and my two step brothers). I have to say that this was the trip of a lifetime. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun in one little week. Since it was june though, it was pretty warm. I remember walking out of the airport and just getting hit by this wall of humid warm air. And it’s the kind of hot that you can’t really get out of by going into the shade, cuz it’s humid, it’s just everywhere.
Epcot was amazing! I have to say my favorite pavilions was the German pavilion and the American Pavilion. We ate at this German buffet that was just totally awesome and they had a freaking german band that was just awesome! Plus it was the first time I tried Sauerkraut and Bratwurst. I hated them both to be honest, but I’m really glad I tried them, cuz that was a goal I had for the trip, as stupid as that sounds
And of course the rides. In my opinion, the Tower of Terror in Florida was way better than the one in California, but I love the Pirates of the Carribean in SoCal way more than the one in Florida. I’ve been on just about everything at Disneyland and seen most of the shows, so for the most part it was all old, but man, I wish i could have spent more than a week at Disney World cuz it was all new to me. Although I do have to say that after a week of Disney everything, I was pretty Disney’d out. I didn’t really get to do or see everything I wanted to, but I’m sure I’ll be going back one day, though. Who know, maybe with my own family, or a giant trip with some friends
And I don’t know what it is, but every time I go to Disney, I HAVE to watch the fireworks. Every single time I’m completely mesmerized by them and i feel like I’m 5 years old again coming to Disneyland for the first time. And you have to watch them from in the park so you can hear the music, cuz it’s not the same without it (at my dad’s house I can hear the fireworks from Disneyland. I can’t see them, but they’re only a 10 minute drive away). Fireworks = awesomeness on so many levels. If you ever go to any Disney park, you need to watch the fireworks. It’s the greatest way to end any disney day
In the end, I’ll take disneyland over Disney World. Simply because of the weather (plus Disneyland is like, next door while WDW is across the country). I still love Disneyland more than Knott’s Berry Farm or Six Flag’s Magic Mountain (those are the big three in SoCal).
Man, now I really want to go to Disney, even though I went over spring break
That sounds right, thedriveintheatre; on this Trivia game I play sometimes, there was a question about the size of WDW, and it was something along the lines of, ‘how many times would the island of Manhattan fit into Walt Disney World?’ and I think the answer was four. Which is just huge!
Eep, that does sound scary, Flik-E. Being lost is one thing, but being lost somewhere as big as that is even more frightening. It seems like everyone has lost their parents as a kid at some point- I know I did once in the supermarket.
All these stories are making me desperately want to go one day. I was thinking maybe a two week break, with one week in California and one week in Disney World? A dream holiday. If only I could afford it!
I’m going to Disney World next spring break with my high school band/choir! Oh yeah!!!
Pix: I’m so jealous!!! cries Not fair…everyone’s either gone, or is going, or BOTH!!!
The choir and my band went to Disneyworld also two years ago! This year they went to New York. Anyway, I’m super jealous! I’ve never been to Disney World, just Disneyland. Be sure to have tons of fun!
I’ve been to Disneyworld once when I was too little to remember and to Disneyland many times. I have family out there and my parents made it a point to get to go to Disney if we could. I don’t remember it now, but when I was 8, I got a picture with Buzz!!! I really want to go back now, as I haven’t been in years, and not since I discovered the awesome of Pixar.
I’m on the right. I can’t believe that that picture was taken 10 years ago!!!
My family belongs to Disney Vacation club. I’ve been ten times times to Disneyworld in my 17 years on Earth and it is my absolute favorite place in the world! I love it so much…
Jealousy…consuming me…I’m such a Woody!!! I want to go
Walt Disney World is awesome! I’ve been twice (most recently in 2004) and really want to go back. This year’s out, but I’m seriously thinking about 2011.
Splash Mountain is my favorite ride/attraction in all the parks. I am really eager to try Toy Story Mania on my next trip, though, and the Nemo musical at AK is a big big priority for me.
Favorite meals are breakfast at Crystal Palace before the park opens, and the Royal Feast at Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco pavilion at Epcot.
Both trips were in early December, which is a great time to go - weather is good, crowds are relatively low, and you get to see all the holiday decorations/events (like the Candlelight Christmas Processional at Epcot, and the giant Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian).
Ellie-jessie-eve’s sig made me discover something today! Just google it, it’ll be Disneyland’s newest attraction, sorta like a musical fountain meets a live film-orchestra. And it features all my favourite scenes from Disney and Pixar!
Watch this video from 7:15 onwards. I swear Wall-E and Eve’s giggles melted my heart, and I can’t wait to see clearer footage of what will be projected on the mist!
EDIT: New TV Spot! EVE FTW!!!
Argh… now I really wanna return to DCA!
