Haystack's 10-for-10 Shuffle Pixar Oneshots (G to PG)

Hey everyone!

So, I found out about this challenge thing on Fanfiction.net. The challenge was to put your Ipod/mp3 player on shuffle and write a oneshot each for the first ten songs that came up. I figured, why not? So here it is. Enjoy!

First Song: Die Another Day by Madonna
Movie: The Incredibles
Character: Mirage
Rating: PG

Mirage. was. ticked.

This was the final straw. She had dealt with insults, lewd remarks, even blows, but she had always broke them off, thinking that there was love in his raging, as that sappy song she had once heard said.

Not anymore though. Not now, since Syndrome had basically thrown her to the lions when Mr. Incredible was crushing her. Bob Parr’s honour had won out in the end, and he had set her down, but she was still livid. She could not believe the audacity of Syndrome, to treat her life as nothing more than something he could bet on a whim. He had held her in the chains of this so-called ‘relationship’, and she had been blind to the fact that she had been bound.

The blindfold had been pulled off of the hawk though, and this hawk was ready for some answers.

“Why’d you do it?” She said, barely containing her anger.

“Come on, he wouldn’t have hurt you. I know him. He’s too rooted in being ‘good’.” Syndrome said airly, uncaring. Mirage stiffened, and she heard the rattling of chains deep in her mind.

“He might not have.” She said slowly. She shoved her clipboard into his chest, almost knocking the vermin off of his chair.

“But next time you place a bet,” She said, spitting out venom in her words, the words that were slapping Syndrome in the face, pummeling him, making his nose bleed and his eyes swell shut, turning an interesting shade of purple in her minds eye. “bet your own life.”

She turned and walked away, and as she did she could swear that she could feel invisible chains falling from her wrists and ankles.

Free.

Second Song: Clocks by Coldplay
Movie: Wall-E
Character:Eve
Rating: G

“Fly.”

That was the first real word out of her mouth. When she was in the assembly line and in the factories, she had not spoken a word. She hadn’t needed too. Her type of robot was created for the purpose of seeking, not speaking. They put a voice command in her, yes, but that was only normal, in case she ever ran into any intelligent beings that she would have to communicate with. The chances of that were infininately small.

Once the ship had left though, and she stared around her at Terra, at Planet Earth, she had finally realized that cameras weren’t going to scrutinize every word that she said. Thus, her first word.

“Fly.”

She lifted up into the air, sleek, smooth, a graceful white bullet against the yellowish-brown sky. She took off like a shot, swooping and soaring through the air, feeling relief from being free from the confining ship for a short time, from the exhilirating first-time rush of freedom, from the pure unbridled joy of flight.

“Fly!” She cried out, and only the dust on the ground and in the air heard her…or so she thought. “Fly!”

Song Three: Candlelight by Imogen Heap
Movie: Finding Nemo
Character: Dory
Rating: G

I am alone, surrounded by the colour blue,

“No no no NO!” Dory spun around, feeling panicked, felling regret, feeling lonely. There was nothing around her but miles of clear, blue, empty ocean.

Just like it was before.

Her best friend, no, her brother had left her. Marlin must have felt heartbroken at the loss of his son, but you’d think he would WANT company, not reject it. But he had left, and now she couldn’t find him, was completely lost.

Inside a poem, the only words I ever knew

“P. Shermon 42…P. Sher…Sydney…” Dory rambled, trying desperately to remember. But it wasn’t working. She could feel the words, the faces, the memories sifting through her fins like sand. She hated it. She missed him. She missed Marvin…wait, what was that his name? What was his name? AAARGH.

She slowed down, floating softly with the snails-pace current of the ocean. She remembered his face at least. A funny little clownfish, her friend, even though she didn’t know his name. She had that at least. That seemed to be sticking around.

Song Four: Dance With the Devil by Breaking Benjamin
Movie: The Incredibles
Character(s):Mr. Incredible and Syndrome
Rating: PG

Bob knew he was fighting for his life.

Crack.

He swore as he tumbled backwards, stars exploding in front of his eyes and a burning pain enguling his nose and spreading shockwaves throughout his body. When the heck did Syndrome get that strong? He opened his mouth to say something but gagged as blood rushed down into his mouth.

“You could have said yes, you know.” Syndrome said as he turned on his wrist device. A blue light engulfed Mr. Incredible, and he found himself frozen in place, unable to move. Syndrome cackled and threw the burlesque superhero into the cliff wall. Bob winced as he felt bones splinter in his shoulder. Being super strong did NOT mean that you were immune to injury…or immortal.

“If you said yes, we wouldn’t be here right now.” The madman continued. The blue light grabbed ahold of Mr. Incredible again, and he was flung headfirst into a tree.

That’s going to hurt in the morning. He thought ruefully, before speaking aloud. “I can’t change the past, Billy! That was then, this is now!”

“DON’T CALL ME BILLY!” Blue light again, much more pain as he was thrown into a boulder. Boulder’s are decidedly not soft. “It’s Syndrome now.”

Wow, that name is as dumb as his hairstyle. Thought Mr. Incredible. He dazedly looked up and saw that he was near the edge of a cliff. Thousands of tons of limestone jutted above a churning pool of water. A waterfall thundered nearby, spilling out over the cliffs edge and turning from crystal clear to white as it plunged into the water below, as if it was scared of falling.

Syndrome stepped in front of him, a self-satisfied smirk on his face. Mr. Incredible spat a glistening stream of blood at his feet. The villain raised his wrist, but the mechanism had a once in a lifetime glitch and did not go off.

Mr. Incredible saw his chance.

Before the blue light could grab him again, he dove over the cliffs edge, down, down, down, ignoring the throbbing pain of his nose and the tearing in his shoulder, ignoring Syndrome’s angry shout, ignoring everything but the sound of whistling ai and the cool rush of falling water coming up to meet him.

Song Five: Red Letters by DC Talk
Movie: Wall-E
Characters: Wall-E
Rating: G

“It is beautiful over there.” Thomas Edison

That was the phrase echoing through Wall-E’s mind as he sailed through space, hanging onto the ladder of the the ship. He knew who Thomas Edison was thanks to an educational tape he had found during his time on Earth. He hadn’t kept it, mainly because he found it boring, but he kept the facts on it. He knew that the man had invented hundreds of things, including the lightbulb. However, it was his final words that had stuck with him, and that came back to him as he saw the wonders of the galaxy, from the beauty of the sun to the magnificence of Saturn’s rings, to the tarnished beauty of his home planet, Earth.

Is this, he wondered, over there?

Song Six: The Island by Celtic Thunder
Movie: Toy Story
Characters: Woody, Buzz, Jesse and Bo Peep
Rating: PG

September 11, 2001

Woody was shocked as the TV flashed on. He, Buzz, Jesse and Bo Peep had gotten a desperate messages from the neighboring toys via Morse code. The message had been chilling. Turn on the telly by God stop the humans are at war stop someone attacked the Pentagon stop

They hadn’t told them about the Twin Towers. The complete horror that they all felt as the towers fell could not be described in words. Woody held Bo as she silently wept. Jesse looked numb, and Buzz looked like he wanted to punch sokmebody’s lights out. They may had just been toys, but they understood the full applications, both to their human friends and to them personally. Andy’s father was a soldier. If the United States went to war, then he would be called into service.

Later, when Andy came home from school, he sat down on the bed, hugged Woody and Buzz to him, and cried. He knew. A seven-year-old child should not have to face the fact that his Dad was going to war, perhaps never to return. Yet here he was. All Woody and Buzz could do was comfort him.

We’re here, Andy. Always remember that. We’re here.

Addendum: I always wondered where Andy’s father was in Toy sTory and Toy Story 2, and eventually the idea of his dad being a soldier came to me. Then I wondered what the toy’s reaction would be to real-life events and this idea came to me. Quite depressing, but it works.

Song Seven: Goodbye for Now by POD
Movie: Wall-E
Character: Cpt. McCrae
Rating: G

Captain McCrae was idly looking through the computer files, occasionally looking up terms. The first term that he tended to look up nowadays was humanity. It offered a wide variety of choices to look through. This time he picked love, though he already had a good idea what love was.
After that, he picked hope, and after that, faith.

There was a funny word connected with faith. It was only three letters long, but somehow it perked the Captain’s interest. He clicked the word God. The computer paused for several moments, and then definitions and examples began to literally explode on the screen. The Captain’s jaws dropped. Whoever this ‘God’ was, He sure tended to get around. The Captain realized that he sure had a LOT of reading to do.

As he read, he dicovered that, in Earth’s past, many people had worshiped many different types of gods, in something called religion. He learned that the five most popular religions were Christianity, Islam, Bhuddism, Hinduism and Judaeism, and that wars had been fought over them. As he read more into them, he started to get a headache. There was just so much to take in. Captain McCrae decided to show someone, John and Mary perhaps, and learn and talk about this. Whatever all of this was, he wanted to know more about it.

Song Eight: I’m Still Here by Knight’s Bridge
Movie: Ratatouille
Character(s): Remy
Rated:G

Remy walked down the streets of Paris in the rain, sticking close to the shadows. He had just had the argument of a lifetime with his father, and his father had shown him things. Not very pleasant things. Was that how his father saw life, as a long chain of not-very-pleasant-things? Was that how Remy was supposed to see it?

Well, he hadn’t. He had told his Dad that there was more to life than that, and they had agreed that, since they could never seem to agree on anything, but this in particular, they had decided to go their seperate ways.

It hurt. Remy still loved his father, even though they had almost constantly disagreed. Knowing that this was IT, this was the end of the line with his family, it was like somebody was rubbing a cheese grater over his soul. Humans may not believe that rats, that pests, that vermin could feel that way, but that’s what Remy was feeling as he headed back to the crummy apartment that he and his human partner, Linguini, shared. He certainly hoped that his dream would be worth getting ostracised from his family for.

Song Nine: Two Worlds by Phil Collins
Movie: Ratatouille
Character: Remy
Rating: G

Remy lived in two worlds.

One, with his family, where he was the esteemed younger son of the leader of the family, one where he was among his own kind, but not really among them.

The other, where he was among humans who shared his passion, and he had found a friend and ally with the red-headed young man, yet where he always had to stare hidden. Who could believe that a rat could cook? Most of the humans didn’t, yet here he was, making Linguini a culinary genious.

Oh, how he waited for the day when he could bring the two world together, to make one big family.

Song Ten: Awakening by Mae
Movie: A Bug’s Life
Character(s): Dot, Flick

She strained her wings. Rose up a little. Flopped down again.

She scowled. “I hate gravity!” She said aloud. She tried again and again, failing miserably each time.

She looked over at her older sister, Ada, who was soaring gracefully above the treetops. Ada was so beautiful, so perfect. She was tall and willowy where Dot was small and stumpy. But what was more important was that she could fly.

“I won’t be second fiddle.” Dot muttered. “I’ll try and try and try even if I turn into one big quibbling bruise, but I’ll try untill I can do it. I WILL fly.”

Off in the shadows, Flick watched the attemps and the childlike vow of determination with a smile on his face. If a little child could be so determined, then why couldn’t he be?

“Well done, Dot.” He murmured. “You may be small, but you’re my hero.”

Whoo! Im done! passes out from exhaustion
