I know Dash is going to go ballistic all over this topic.
We are all familiar with Helen Parr, also known as Elastigirl, or Mrs. Incredible. What do you all think of her? This includes her Glory Days, and her present days.

Helen Parr is awesome she’s really outspoken especially in her glory day’s she’s definetly one of my favorite characters in the incredibles aside from violet
Mrs. Parr is one tough “sock-er” mom, I have to admit. Her unique abilities match her personality and overall, motherly lifestyle, which makes perfect sense as far as characterization goes.
See, this is another reason why I absolutely love Pixar and the techniques they use to distinguish their productions from the work of other, “less-equipped” companies/industries. They don’t try to fit the right jigsaw piece into the wrong corner of a puzzle – they research; they do their homework; the indulge in some serious, yet satisfying, digging that results in a round ball that fits into a circular hole.
As an example, let us take the key character in question here: Helen Parr. As a mother of three, her work load is (obviously) considerably full to the brim in that she is, essentially, the electrical wire that lights up the house. She tends to the family; she cares for the home and its entities; she keeps a close eye on her husband. All these factors combine into one, gigantic ball that needs to be rolled continually throughout the day, and this eventually causes her to be ingenious and (literally) “stretch out” to attend to all these needs and concerns. Henceforth, her steadfast personality and elastic power are the perfect fit to match her lifestyle. Quite ingenious, I must say…
I must also add that Helen Parr reminds me of my own mother in several ways. The resemblances (both in outward appearance and personality) between them is uncanny. ![]()

Helen, to me, is probably one of Pixar’s most ‘real’
characters so far. Her appearance, personality, and even the way her voice matches the way she looks all adds up
to a truly believable character. She is such a good, caring wife and mother, and seems to be one of those people
that doesn’t have an inch of badness or evil within them. She’s pure, but in a normal, natural way.
Personally, I love Helen Parr. She is one of my top favorite characters of all time.
When I first saw her (while watching the movie), she was in her Glory Days Super Suit. I was immedietly taken aback by how gorgeous she looked in her red and cream colored outfit. I was also surprised of her personality. She was so independent and such a go-getter. I was even more surprised when she mentioned that she couldn’t even think of starting a family. But as the movie progressed, it turned out that she was accepting of starting a family.
The mom side of her I really, really loved. She had to take care of the house, the kids, pick them up from school, cook dinner, and all these chores. That is what i loved. Her flexibility, which also made sense. Her powers were flexibility and elasticity. As a mother, she is pulled in all directions and still, she hangs in there and manages to pull it all off. She is also a kind and caring mother who loves her family. Overall, she is probably the best mother figure anyone can ask for.
She as Elastigirl in her new Super Suit completely amazed me. Every scene that she was in, I was cheering for her. When she was sneaking in Syndrome’s base, I was aprehensive and excited for her at the same time. Talk about a “socker-mom” as Mitch said. Her Elasticity powers are just a thing to have. I loved Reed Richards from the Fantasic 4 when I was a kid. When Elastigirl came in, i just loved her even more.
The person who played Helen Parr is one of the best actresses in the world. I absolutely adore Holly Hunter. She was the perfect person to play Helen Parr. Not to mention that Hunter is one of my favorite actresses of all time.
Overall, Helen Parr is one character that I absolutely love to death. Her looks and personality is just incredible and wonderful. She is a perfect mother and a super Super Hero.
I like how she’s consistent. Mainly, Bob wants to start a family as a super, while Elastigirl does not; Bob wants to be a super again, but Helen tries raising a family.
My dad pointed this out to me one night as my family was watching The Incredibles:
It’s funny to note that Bob Parr originally wanted to “settle down and raise a family”, but then wished for the super life again after he had gotten his wish. The same goes for Helen: She was completely against raising a family…until she got into it.
Just something interesting to note.

Ah yes, I knew that. Intresting how things can change.
Also notice how Frozone the (super) ladies man settles down with one (non-super) gal who’s got him wrapped around her finger.
To illustrate this visually…

Yes I <3 Helen as everyone knows. She’s one of the most complete characters in Pixar’s history. I believe Brad modeled her highly off of his own wife and mother and knowing him I suspect he has an excelent relationship with both. She reminds me of both my own mother and what I would look for in a wife with both a sense of caring and self-sacrifice. She has a firm head on her shoulders, is keen, smart, gorgeous, athletic, and her one weakness is how much she cares about her family - even when they seem to be the one making her life hell.
Dash - You really like that whip-lash icon, don’t you? ![]()
Heheh. Yeah, I almost forgot about Frozone. Interesting…
Who doesn’t? ![]()
I hadn’t really noticed that about Frozone and his partner before, but it’s a really interesting irony.
Holly Hunter was just on The Tonight Show .
There was absolutely no talk of The Incredibles or a possible sequel.
Someone please find that interview on YouTube.
Oh man, I wonder what would she say if the idea came up to her?
Go feminism! That about sums it up. You know, “Settle down?! And leave the saving the world to the men?! Girls, come on!” or whatever she says.
“Settle down, are you kidding? I’m at the top of my game. I’m right up there with the big dogs! Girls, come on! Leave the saving-the-world to the men?? I don’t think so! Heh. I don’t think so…” - Helen
I’m kinda big on quotes… Eheh.

That’s right! Also, one of my favorite quotes from her.
