Firstly, sorry if there has been a post on this subject. I looked and couldn’t find one. I want to get a slinky dog that can stand along side my TSC toys. I don’t like the ones with the string from the head. I have found a slinky that comes in a blue/yellow box titled ‘toy story and beyond’. This Slinky has the string from the collar. Is this Slinky in scale? Are there better ones? Any help will be great
No, that’s the only Slinky Dog available. There’s no Toy Story Collection version and its doubtful that there will. I asked Jenny Sze from Thinkway Toys and they have no plans to bring Slink to the Toy Story Collection.
Just do what I did and cut the string off with scissors. Sure he’ll still have a small hole in the middle of his head, but it won’t be very noticeable. Slinky didn’t even have a string in the movies anyway.
Thanks for the help. I guess I will have to go with whatever I can get
If your willing to pay an upwards of 60 dollars their might be something on the horizon…
Are you referring to the project you and the person on the Ultimate Disney forum are working on?
Im not on that project, but its the same guy, yes.
paying the initial price isn’t a problem, it’s the shipping and import duty to the UK. I recently purchased a Buzz lightyear robot from the US and it cost more to ship than the purchase price. Still managed to save over a £100 though.
I’d definitely be willing to pay that if it comes out the way it’s expected to.
Well, there was only one Slinky Dog, believe it or not. It was first made by James Industries in the 50’s and that same version is still used. This meant that the Slinky in Toy Story was based off of this Slinky. Like you’ve noted, there’s small inconsistancies, but other than that, it’s fairly accurate.
If they made a TSC version of Mr. Potato Head, though, that gives hope for Slink.
Guys I have a Slinky Dog I got in Disney World and the underside of his ears are white. All the pics I’ve seen his ears are totally brown.
So my question is would you paint them?
I’m in 2 minds
Eggy
How close is it to being a replica? If there are other slight imperfections, just don’t even bother.
I would say it is pretty accurate when compared to the 360 turnaround on the official site. He just doen’t have the aged look that all of the toys are missing and I personally think that the plastic he is made from is too shiny but other than that he is spot on. Also when looking at the movie and the the TSC he is inscale with them too.
Its a far cry from being a replica. the scale is the only noteworthy thing about him.
The one in the movie was designed to look like a one of a kind wooden pull string toy.
the one we have is made from a cheap shiny plastic, The muzzle needs to be more narrow, with a bit more contouring. The tail needs to be thinner and taper in more, the string needs to go, his feet need to be jointed, his weight needs to be re distributed so that his slinky can droop properly like in the movie, and his ears need to at least look more like leather, if not actually be leather, and be solid brown.
In the movie, Slinky’s ears are supposed to be vinyl anyways. I also don’t think that he should be wooden, he should just be a more matte plastic, but other than that, you’ve summed it up well.
I never new that slinky was wooden
i swear he was not
There was never a wooden slinkydog, just saying that he was designed to look like one in the movies.

Look closely, you’ll notice there are no seams anywhere to be found, and the paint has a very dull reflective quality to it. it is unlike the plastic of any other other characters. It looks to be designed to look like the old pull string toys of the 50s.
Im not saying a real life version would have to be wooden, it could just be a durrable lightweight plastic, but in terms of what the character was made to resemble, it looks to be sanded down wood. Plasic would have sharper corners (and the innacurate one we have does)
Oh, well that explains it. I think they got the plastic density right for Woody in his TSC outing.
Looking at slinks ears in a box they come across as a faux leather. His skin tone is more semi gloss/eggshell. He isn’t matte that’s for sure. And I noticed that his front legs are longer in the film than the toy. This makes it easier to have that sagging middle and walking gate. I think I’m gonna have to break out the modelling gear and get busy.
Theclaw check out the new DISNEY PIXAR TOY STORY 3 SLINKY DOG STRETCH PULL TOY. I found it on ebay. I hope it’s good enough.
