Homeschoolers?

Hey there, ya’ll.

I was just wondering if there were/are any homeschoolers out there.

I am, and have been one every since I was five or six years old. Having been homeschooled almost all my life, I

naturally have a tendency to be rather shy around other people. However, after enrolling in a martial class and

volunteering at my local farmer’s market, I’m slowly getting out of the timid stage.

My homeschool

program is called Alpha Omega Academy/Switched On

Schoolhouse, and it’s a very effective program that I have enjoyed for the last twelve years.

I’m able to work at my own pace, while achieving acceptional grades at the same time. The AOA institution offers

two “types” of homeschooling methods, if you’re interested: One is books; the other is cd-roms. You

can either do your homeschool via the computer, or work the old-fashioned way…with books. I was on books until

the fifth or sixth grade, I think. I then switched to cd-roms until tenth grade, and now I’m back on books. Yes,

I’m a little bit behind at seventeen, but I’m working on it. I’m getting strait A’s, so I’m not complaining.

:stuck_out_tongue:

How about you guys? Have any of you been homeschooled, are thinking of doing it, or are currently

homeschooled?

yeah iwas homeschool throgh hgisxchool they bought me

anything i wanted. if i wanted an art kit, bam theyd have it ready by next meeting, if i wanted scuba diving

lessons bam theyd buy, if I wanted An Animation sftware Bam id have it. It was a free school, theyre the reason i

have my copy of The Illituion of life wirrten by Ollie Johnson and Frank thomas

Wow – how nice! I’m glad I’m not the only homeschooler

around here.

Heheh. I remember how excited I was when I first got “free” books from my

homeschooling department. A couple of them included The Miracle Worker and

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I was so happy that I read both of the books before I

even started my ninth grade, which included those two novels.

My cousins are

homeschooled.

I wish I had been homeschooled only because kids were cruel to

me. On the other hand, I learned a lot from my public school experience, and I don’t just mean

academically.

~~=oP

I’ve never been homeschooled and I haven’t really

considered it since I was in elementary school. I think it’s a nice concept to have the whole time to

concentrate on yourself, but I think one of the main things that motivates me to go to (public) school is the

social factor. I like having somewhere to see my friends everyday and I also like getting involved in activities

and meeting new people. Public school can be frusterating at times… and really stressful… but I guess I like

it.

I don’t know if I would want to be homeschooled but I definately want to try it for like… two weeks

or so.

homeschool is goo when you wish to concentrate on your other dreams beyond passing school

Like…Animation for instance

I?ve been homeschooled all my life. I do most of my school subjects at home but

I take a math class on Wednesdays for two hours. I then come home and do the math I was taught in class for the

rest of the week. On Fridays, I go to a homeschool educational Co-op where I have three classes. One of the

classes is a Spanish class. I?m not that good at Spanish but I try. I?m going to be playing for a homeschool

Basketball team. The basketball season starts on the 17th of October, so wish me luck.

Mitch, I used to use Switched On Schoolhouse when I was younger but now I

just use books.

JV IS TIZ!!! PIXAR

I know

exactly what you mean. A good experience, though, I guess in the long term.

It’s nice to

meet a bunch of other homeschoolers and previous stay-at-home learners. I’m glad to know that I’m not the only

one.

PixarVixen: Aww…I’m sorry to hear that you got picked on all the

time. I tried public school for one day and I absolutely

hated it! But yes, it was an interesting experience. At

least you stuck with it.

JamieLew: Yes, it is actually quite fun. I hope

you get an opportunity to try it out someday.

crostskates: Haha.

JV: Interesting. So you kind of get the best of both worlds: Homeschool

and public.

And heck with Spanish; I take French and it’s great. (No offense to those of you who are

Spanish or are learning to speak the language.)

Just a couple of classes during the

week then its really just school at home for the rest of the

week.

Well we kinda have to take Spanish down here in Texas because

it?s like the second language for some people.

hehe - same here

in Florida LOL!

I am not a home

school person. I do know some people who do have home school. It is very different from a regular school, so I

heard.

As far as I can recall, over here,

homeschooling is pretty rare, and unless there’s a very good reason for someone to be homeschooled, the parents

are forced to send their children to public school, or risk being put in prison otherwise. I don’t understand

this system- for some, public school is fine, but for others, homeschooling is a lot better. Everyone’s

different, and this forceful idea of everyone having to go to public schools doesn’t exactly cater for

everyone’s needs.

I?ve been homeschooled all my life. I do most of my school stuff

at home but I take a math class on Wednesdays for two hours (my bro does the same thing). I come home and do the

math I was taught in class for the rest of the week. And than do stuff like that.

I?ve been homeschooled all my life to JV and TLP.

I’ve been seeing alot of online schools advertised around here lately.

But I like my school. Although its quite different from most schools.
