An Emperor Zurg figure? I think that dynamic in Andy’s room would just be hilarious, with evil zurg(like in the movie) being his delusional for but eventually him becoming something like the animated series version and the father version seen near the end of TS2. Or come to think of it, have any media related to TS(like comics) shown Andy with any other buzz related toys?
Yes, I saw a picture of a comic online that showed Andy with a Booster (from Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command) figure.
That would have been funny, if done right.
For some reason I can see it being very annoying for Buzz and probably more so for poor Woody. Then on top of that they have to worry about if Zurg will do anything drastic to the other toys to get to Buzz or some nonsense like that.
I know Andy doesn’t have one, but when the Buzz Lightyear of Star Command show was on tv, they had a couple different intros and one of them was Zurg firing at the tv. Speaking of which I wish I could find them all for old time sake, but it doesn’t air on tv anymore (least to my knowledge), and the intros that I’ve seen on the internet are all the same intro. The only other one I’ve seen bouncing around on the internet is the one where Wheezy and RC hit Buzz and send him flying. Lol.
yeah, In Toy Story #0 Andy got one of the characters from the TV show! I thought that was cool that the comics even went into detail like that, you know? like the movies, the TV show, and the comics are all connected!
thats cool! I would love to have more buzz related toys in scale with the collection figures.
It pretty clear that Andy was becoming obsessed with Buzz Lightyear cause of the merchandise he was adding to his room in the original film (bedsheets, deck of cards, poster) so it makes you wonder why he didn’t buy a Zurg toy to have pretend fights with Buzz? If Buzz is really that popular then surely he would know about his arch-enemy from watching the TV show or something. I think the reason Zurg was never seen in the 1st Toy Story and Buzz only says his name over and over is because they may not have had any idea of what he was supposed to be like and were just making stuff up (and it wasn’t important for the story anyway). In Toy Story 2 they clearly just made Zurg a parody of Darth Vader, and with Buzz Lightyear of Star Command they pretty much left Disney with the job of creating Buzz’s universe.
Well, kids cant always get the toys they want. I was obsessed with Power Rangers as a kid, had all sorts of merchandise, but no villains of any kind, not til zeo that is. I wanted them, but the heroes were priority, and it was hard enough convincing my parents to get me those.
Speaking of which, it’s pretty cool that they’re making toys of the original Power Rangers series again, cause that really takes me back to how they were in the 90’s. Never thought I’d be seeing those in a store these days.
Cool on paper, sure, but their not very good if you ask me. Not to trail off topic, but the only thing worth owning out of the new toys to me is the megazord. Everything else is just pathetically small and oddly proportioned compaired to the 90s toys. If you guys think the Toy Story Collection is bad with its kid attracting gimmicks, this is a thousand times worse when it comes to sacrificing accuracy and articulation for goofy crap, most of which was never in the show. but I realise Im not the intended demo for this. the Super legends line is more my style. But their so limited the good ones are impossible to find. Ive only managed to find Zedd and the Gold ranger. the SL Tommy figures are ridiculously expensive on ebay.
whats that? I’m on a Pixar board and should probably stop talking about power rangers? gotcha.
WMG: Perhaps Andy is afraid of Zurg. Or maybe he just doesn’t like villains that much.
That’s an interesting question. Andy always seemed able to make his own ‘bad guys’, using Mr. Potato Head for instance, so perhaps he just was happy to continue using him rather than begging his mum for an Evil Emperor Zurg.
i just find it weird andy never even mentions zurg.
When Andy first brings Buzz up to his room during the birthday party, I’m pretty sure he actually does say something about Zurg.
It might not be Andy, but you do hear some of the kids say :“His laser lights up!” “Take that Zurg!” “Quick, this is where the spaceship lands”…[/b]
I always assumed that was Andy saying that line actually…
Found the scene on Youtube, and it’s definitely Andy saying everything.
I really miss that show…I used to watch it every time it was on. those were the days. I wonder if we’ll see any shorts from TS3 on tv? (like the Cars shorts-those are cool, clever, and just long enough). It would be fun to see some mini adventures continued…Just a random thought
