I keep reading at other websites that some Pixar fans don’t want Toy Story shorts. Those people want Pixar to move on and leave Toy Story alone. I will love Toy Story shorts. I won’t like another Toy Story movie though.
I dont mind them.
It’s kind of a little peek into what’s going on with the toys after the movie. They’ll be like the Cars shorts.
As long as they dont make a TS4 I’ll be fine. The shorts will work for me.
I like the idea of continuing telling “Toy Story” stories as shorts before other Pixar films.
While I’d love to see another full-length feature film or even a spin-off “Sunnyside” film with Ken and Barbie as the lead characters, I’m happy to receive pretty much anything “Toy Story”, including the shorts.
I’m not so happy about having to see Cars 2 to see the first short though. I can’t sit through Cars and the entire concept of the “if humans were cars” world confuses and bores me.
Ive yet to see anyone complain about them. its not as if they dont have a bunch of other stuff in the works too. and thier just shorts. no matter how bad they may or may not be, you can always shrug them off as not being in canon if you want to pretend they dont exist. Not as easily done with, say a Toy Story 4. The only thing I can see people complaining about would be if they would rather have an original short in front of cars rather than relying on a pre existing property. I can see where those people might be coming from. part of me would agree with that. at the same time I cant turn down seeing my favorite characters in theaters again. I guess in a perfect world we would get two shorts, one to follow tradition of original shorts, and toy story the fun of it. I have no qualms with the one their putting with the Muppets though. No one would have expected a short for that one anyway, so its just a bonus.
When Toy Story 3 revived the franchise, pretty much everyone wanted to see what came next, although the ending was so beautifully done that fans were in a predicament. But then came the shorts, and I think that’s the best way to continue the franchise. Even when all is said and done, we’ll always be wondering about Woody and Buzz.
I guess the criticism is that Pixar should focus on other things, but seeing as Pixar is churning out more movies than ever, this really doesn’t seem to be a problem. It’s not like this is the first Toy Story short, either; did the Toy Story Treats really slow down Pixar? No, but they were still funny, little clips.
So yeah, I for one and curious about how they’re adapting, and my dream is to see where the other chracters ended up.
However, I hope we never get a Toy Story 4. If we do, I will be so disappointed in Pixar. They finished the trilogy off perfectly with the 3rd movie, and I see no need. They should focus their efforts elsewhere - developing great new original ideas!
I’m semi-excited for this short, however I don’t really want Pixar to pump out shorts like Cars. After this short, I want Toy Story to be finished on a high note, as the perfect trilogy
