Collette has to be older than Linguini, in her speech with the knives she states that it was hard work to get in this kitchen as a woman. There’s the point. WORK. That means some years of working in a kitchen. I think Collete is 26 years old, while Linguini is about 18 or 19 years old.
I agree. Also, movies never really had a couple where the female was older than the male. Most often the male is older than the female. Because of the previous sentence, I always thought that Linguini was slightly older than Colette and that him going to Gusteau’s was after he graduated from college.
Stated in the official book, by Emile himself no less heh, that I got with my DVD, he say’s one of his…well I suppose it’s “likes” since it’s in french is… “Helping my little brother (I mean in size, not years)”
I’d say Collete would be mid to late 20’s and linguini might be 20 or late 10s. Like Linguini said, he’s been in and out of jobs for awhile and he’s grown desperate.
I have a “the making of” Corpse Bride book, and it tells the ages of most of the main characters. I’ve yet to come across a Ratatouille book that would tell the ages, though… if you ever find one, let me know
…okay, that’s off topic. But seriously, I hope they somehow do find a way to tel us how old the characters in Ratatouille are. They created them! I refuse to believe a company who studied rats for a year and actually cooked hundreds of French foods just to make a movie never thought about how old their characters are.
Would you all stop quoting so much? It’s driving me crazy! (jk)
A long time ago, I actually got into a fight with someone (and I laugh at both of us for doing this) because we had different opinions on how old Doc Hudson was in Cars. That’s why I try to avoid these discussions as much as possible, but I can’t help it so here’s my opinion:
From youngest to oldest: Linguini, Emile, Remy, Colette, Skinner, Django
I’m guessing that the first three are in their teen years, and about the same age.
Arguing about the age of a car? Whoa. I mean I guess it’s not that much different from debating the age of any cartoon character, but a car.
Anyway, I’m thinkin’ Linguini is a bit older than that. Like at least technically an adult. Partly because younger would make Colette a bit of a cradle-robber and she doesn’t strike me as the type.
LeBatEnRouge: Emile calls Remy his “little brother” because he’s larger than Remy. Pixar even said so, but I’ll have to find that website again. I know that Remy’s older than Emile, just not by how much.
Yeah, A113 is right about the age difference between Remy and Emile. Confusing as it is, Remy is older than Emile. Trust me, I read a book on the subject… (snigger)
Exactly. See, I think he is an adult, he’s just one of those sort of socially awkward adults with a young boyish face… which Colette thinks is very sexy.
