How old are the characters?

Well I’m not sure about lifespan being a problem, from what I’ve seen animated rodents (especially talking ones that are main characters) tend to enjoy a spectacularlly long life span (a sort of rodent emortality), let’s just take a few examples: Micky Mouse has been around and essentially the same age for over 60 years, the entire cast of Hamtaro hamsters tend to only last a few years in temperal climates yet the show ran for four years in Japan and at the end the characters had aged at the same rate as the human characters, the mice from Cinderella how long has that movie been out? and their mice are still alright even with a cat that causes enough panic to cause alot of stress related health problems.

All and all, I’d say there isn’t too much to worry about in terms of lifespan

MiniChuchan - I see what you mean. However, Pixar’s films tend to seem a little more realistic and “organic”, so to speak. The characters in Ratatouille come across as more…life-like to me. I can’t help but think that Remy only has a couple of years left on his shoulder until he kicks the bucket… Then again, who’s to say that all of the other rodent characters you mentioned don’t seem realistic in their own right? Heh…

– Mitch

Hmmm. Well there is one in film point for the idea that the rats in the film age at the same rate as humans: At the end of the film you see that they’ve opened their own retraunt and that Remy is telling some rats the story of how they got to this point. Now, when starting a business it takes a certain amount of time to start the business let alone get it to the point that they are at, at least a year, yet all the characters (human and rodent) seem to be about the same age as at the start of the film, if they aged the way the rats in pet stores do than Remy would seen to be about 40 years old, but since he still looks like he’s about 20 years old. Hence the conclusion that they’ll live a long time

MiniChuchan - Hmm. Good point! I never thought of that before… Eheh…

Yes, a very good point, indeed!

I didn’t notice that until you pointed it out minichuchan! Thanks for pointing it out.

Everyone here seems to think that Colette is older than Linguini. I feel differently because I think she might be around the same age, but she’s just been through a lot which has made her appear older, tougher, more mature. You know? Just an opinion…

I’ve always thought that too. Welcome to the forums!By the way, from your avie and username, it seems that you’re quite the ‘Linguette’ fan.

This calls for war between us fans of the pairing! :smiling_imp: [/sarcasm]

I’ve considered her older, but she may be Linguini’s age and he may just be a little immature because [spoil]it’s kinda obvious he was probably living with his mom till her death.[/spoil] At least, that’s what I think.

Edited. Please remember to use spoiler tags when necessary. – Mitch

I hadn’t thought about Linguini’s prior living arrangements, FONY. Interesting… I consider Linguini to be about 20 - 22, and Colette to be a year or two older.

…especially cause it would seem Colette would have gone to a culinary school and worked her way up the ladder in the restaurant industry. Linguini - my guess - is that he’s a few years out of HS.

Colette LInguini - First of all, welcome to Pixar Planet!

Secondly, that’s interesting. I never did consider them to be the same age, and I still don’t see how it could be true, but it is a possibility.
I’m willing to bet that Linguini is around the age of 20 (or anywhere in-between 19 and 21 years of age) and never graduated from college due to stress and work. He seems to retain a pretty good head on his shoulders, despite his clumsy personality and previously immature way of performing certain actions.
Colette, on the other hand, seems as if she has worked in her particular profession for some time/years and, henceforth, knows all the ropes as far as competition and a steady, yet hectic, workload goes. Her mature nature may have just naturally come with age and experience, or she may, as you stated, have rapidly developed it once she realized how competitive the culinary field was.

So yeah. Interesting observation, Colette Linguini!

Colette Linguini: I never thought that. I mean, I always thought that Collete would be older because of her maturity. and Liguini has a lot of boyish characteristics and features about him that make him seem younger than collete.

Welcome to Pixar Planet also!

Thanks, everyone for wecoming me!

Colette Linguini - You are most welcome!

Off-Topic: Just ouf of curiosity, are you guys, perhaps, the two sisters that JesusFreak mentioned? The ones who keep creating those hilariously funny signatures? Only I read your biography and it sounds as if two of you are sharing one account…

Just curious.

– Mitch

Nope, they’re not. Although it’s quite a coincidence! :stuck_out_tongue:

JesusFreak - Aw shucks. Oh well… (snigger)

Back on-topic…

– Mitch

We are sharing the account. And Jesus Freak answered for us. No, we aren’t those sisters. I guess.

Totally welcome Collete Linguini! Do you mind if I call you CL?

Colette Linguini- You raise a very good point, there. If only Pixar would release some kind of fact file about all of the characters, so we wouldn’t have to keep guessing!

And welcome to Pixar Planet!

Well wouldn’t surprise me if they put it on DVD.
Reminder everyone, yet ANOTHER thing that should be in the DVD extras ^_-
